Magic Materia is one of the most common types in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. They are the green orbs which allow players to actively cast spells. Instead of creating characters with magical Jobs like Black Mage or White Mage, heroes can equip Magic Materia.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Beginner Tips
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth can be confusing for new players. In this guide, they will find useful tips that will help them in their adventure.
For example, Fire Materia enables players to cast Fire, Fira, or Firaga depending on its level. There are healing spells as well, like Cure, which are unlocked by utilizing Healing Materia. The Materia system was an Interesting mechanic in the original game that the first remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth carried over well. So, of the many Magic Materia pieces in Rebirth, what should players use the most?
7 Empowerment
Increase Attack & Magic Power
Empowerment is a support-based Magic Materia that has two spells attached to it. The starting spell is called Bravery and increases a character’s attack power for a limited time. Casting it on a character like Cloud would be a good idea since most players will probably main him in the game.
Once leveled up, players can also gain the spell Faith from the Empowerment Materia. This will increase a character’s magic power, so it is best to cast it on a character like Aerith. Anyone who uses a lot of spells in battle would benefit from this too if Aerith isn’t in their Rebirth party.
6 Cleansing
Cure Or Resist Status Effects
- Location: Where the Wind Blows (Kalm Side Quest)
Cleansing will give players three spells, starting with Poisona. This will cure a character afflicted with the Poison status effect. Esuna will, basically, cure every other status ailment, which is a big step up from Poisona.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: 6 Common Mistakes To Avoid
Players will ultimately have an easier time in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth by avoiding these common mistakes.
The final spell is called Resist, which preemptively allows a character to resist status effects. This is a new spell for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as it did not exist in the original version of Final Fantasy 7.
5 Time
Speed-Up ATB Gauge Or Slow Down Enemies
- Location: Costa Del Sol (Pirate’s Rampage Mini-Game)
Time is a great Materia that gets even better when paired with the Magnify Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Magnify acts like the All Materia from the original game; essentially, it allows characters to cast support spells on the entire party. Alternatively, it can hit all enemies in battle with spells like Fire.
Time covers three spells, including the starter, Haste. This will increase how fast a character can raise their ATB gauge, and it’s the best spell of the bunch. Slow will regress how often an enemy can attack and Stop will halt it completely.
4 Healing
Basic But Effective: Heal HP
- Location: Cloud Starts With It
White Mages are an essential part of building a good party within Final Fantasy games. Aerith fits the role the best, but any character can become a White Mage equivalent with Materia like Healing. This Materia has four spells, starting with Cure.
Cure, Cura, and Curaga will all heal a certain amount of HP, and that amount can be increased with Support Materia like Magic Focus. Magnify would be a good one to pair this with as well as Time. The other spell, Regen, heals HP too, but at a gradual level over time.
3 Fire And Ice
An Elemental Combo
- Location: Buy From Chadley (Grasslands Region)
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has four core elemental Materia that players should try to have access to since enemies are often weak to one of these. These are Fire, Lightning, Ice, and Aero, although Poison and Petrify Materia are cut from the same cloth. Those are all great offensive-type Magic Materia, but there is something better than individual orbs like Fire.
In the Grasslands region of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, players can buy a combo Materia called Fire and Ice from Chadley. This gives players the ability to use Fire and Ice spells while only occupying one slot. Other combos can be bought from Chadley later in the game, including Lightning and Wind or Poison and Petrify.
2 Comet
Perfect Answer For Enemies Resistant To Elemental Attacks
- Location: Buy From Chadley (Nibel Region)
Some monsters are strong against all elemental types, making it hard to Pressure or Stagger them in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. That’s why there is Magic Materia like Comet, which is non-elemental. It takes a while to cast, so equipping it alongside Support Materia like Swiftcast is not a bad idea.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Every Playable Character, Ranked
Here’s every playable character in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth ranked from worst to best, along with some other interesting info about each one.
Comet will hurl a series of comets at enemies randomly, and its beefed-up version does the same. Equipping this type of Materia to a spell-casting background character like Aerith is wise, especially if Swiftcast isn’t available yet.
1 Reraise
Revive & Revive Again
- Location: Buy From Chadley (Meridian Ocean Region)
Reraise will be one of the last Magic Materia that players get in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. To buy it from Chadley, players must first complete all the Protorelic quests in the six land-based regions. Once done, that will reveal Gilgamesh’s Island, which holds the optional boss fight with the franchise’s reoccurring antagonist, Gilgamesh.
Casting Reraise on a character will automatically revive them in battle, which is useful in Summons boss fights like Odin who can kill the party automatically in one hit. The nice thing about Reraise is that it can be used repeatedly in a battle, no matter if the characters die once or a hundred times.
