Key Takeaways

  • Fans want a remaster of Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.
  • New Frank West actor Jas Patrick is calling for one as well.
  • Capcom’s survey hints at potential future Deluxe Remasters of other games.

The voice actor behind protagonist Frank West in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster has encouraged fans to ask for a remaster of Dead Rising 2: Off the Record in a new survey by Capcom. Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster has just recently been released to positive reception. This new remaster provides a complete graphical overhaul of the original zombie action classic, giving Frank West a makeover and a new voice actor in the process.

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is a standalone adventure that was released in 2011. With Dead Rising 2 having introduced a new protagonist in Chuck Greene, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record saw the return of fan-favorite Frank West. Interestingly, instead of telling a new story with Frank, Off the Record features essentially the exact same narrative as Dead Rising 2, but simply replaces Chuck with Frank West.

Shortly after the release of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, the voice behind this updated version of Frank West, Jas Patrick, posted on Twitter urging fans of the franchise to ask Capcom for a remastered version of Dead Rising 2: Off the Record in the latest survey from the publisher. The survey asks fans whether they’d like to see more Dead Rising games in the future, providing options for Deluxe Remasters of Dead Rising 2 through Dead Rising 4, including Off the Record, a full-blown remake of one of the games, and an entirely new Dead Rising game. Many fans agreed with Patrick, with many also mentioning wanting to see updated versions of smaller games like Case Zero and Case West.

DRDR’s Jas Patrick Wants A Dead Rising 2: Off the Record Remaster

It seems like Dead Rising 2 is in high demand from fans wanting Capcom to give it the Deluxe Remaster treatment, but it wouldn’t make sense for Capcom to do separate remasters of both Dead Rising 2 and its Off the Record counterpart, since they’re essentially the same game with a swapped protagonist. With that said, it’s easy to imagine Capcom doing an “Off the Record” mode in the potential Dead Rising 2 Deluxe Remaster that Swaps Chuck with Frank West. Capcom’s survey also asked fans whether they’d want to see Deluxe Remasters of games from some of its other franchises, like Dino Crisis, Onimusha, Lost Planet, Darkstalkers, and even Resident Evil. It seems like the Resident Evil franchise is beyond remasters at this point with all the critically acclaimed remakes Capcom has done in recent years, but a Dino Crisis revival is certainly in high demand for many Capcom fans.

Since Capcom is just now conducting a survey about what fans would want to see for the future Dead Rising, the next Deluxe Remaster, if it happens, is likely years away. As for now, although Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster‘s initial launch was digital only, fans on Xbox and PlayStation can look forward to the release of its physical version later this Fall, on November 8.
