Gen V premiered last September to critical acclaim and gave a much-needed look into the pitch black comedy superhero universe ever since The Boys Season 3 ended in 2022, with a fourth season expected to release in Mid-2024. The spin-off was developed by The Boys show runners Evan Goldberg and Erik Kripke who also serve as Executive Producers, with Gen V being based on Volume 4 of The Boys Comic entitled “We Gotta Go Now”

Gen V offered a lot of intriguing angles to the Superhero Genre, set inside a school environment, and had a tougher task of balancing comedy and drama when compared to The Boys. That show always balanced the light and the dark, but Gen V had a greater task at hand, including making its super-powered finale, which saw the heroes of Godolkin University rushing to save the students and staff from over-powered Supes, in an ending that managed to handle its delicate subject-matter perfectly, keeping the action strong and also sprinkling in lots of comedy, which the series is known for.

GEN V can explore Godolkin University in Greater Depth

Similar to the Harry Potter Universe, Gen V follows youngsters, in this case young adults with special abilities and sets the action at a school, which adds, not only superhero action, but all the wonderful aspects of that genre that people love to watch on television, from romances, to newly made friendships, to classic school tropes like the rebellious kids, the teacher’s pets, and the nostalgia of the school environment, Season 2 can focus in greater depth on the different aspects of the school we haven’t seen.

The Harry Potter comparison is apt, as there’s always something intriguing about sinister activities happening in a perfectly ideal location. Gen V introduced The Woods, a horrifying underground lab where scientists perform experiments on students, under the watch of the seemingly well-meaning Principal, Dean Indira Shetty. But Gen V can explore The Woods and Godolkin University in Greater Depth.

Season One ended with the heroes being brought down to The Woods and Season Two can explore various other horrifying aspects of the school viewers have yet to see- as well as maybe even introducing lighter elements going on up above-such as sports teams, introducing new cliques to the school and other locations around the school to expand this Universe.

What Characters we’d like to see in GEN V Season 2

The Boys Spinoff Gen V Cast

Ideally, Gen V can bring back the heroes from last season, including Marie Moreau, her roommate, Emma Meyer, as well as Jordan Li and Andre Anderson, who are all now trapped in The Woods thanks to the evil Indira Shetty and Congressional representative, Victoria Neuman, who returned in her role from The Boys and is shaping up to be a more formal villain over the course of this series.

Additionally, Ashley Barrett, the CEO of Vought can make a return, usually providing comic relief, especially in the season finale, which had some pretty heavy subject-matter, all with Ashley dishing out her manic style of craziness, along with PJ Byrne’s Adam Bourke, the tarnished movie Director behind Dawn of the Seven, who has now been relegated to teaching drama at Godolkin University. While there will likely be new superheroes on campus being introduced to the student body, and likely some hidden within The Woods, viewers will have to wait until Season 2 to see who exactly is introduced.

How Gen V can Further Connect to The Boys

Billy Butcher in Gen V finale

Gen V’s killer finale introduced two classic The Boys stars in small cameos, with Homelander making an appearance at the very end to save the day from the Supes running rampant at Godolkin University, and Billy Butcher appearing in a post-credits scene, exploring The Woods. While these characters likely won’t have sizable roles, only amping up their parts in the upcoming season of The Boys, the show can still make use of its larger-known characters to connect to Gen V.

Victoria Neuman is almost certainly set to return in a villainous overarching capacity and there should be more featured spots for heroes like The A-Train and even The Deep, which often provide some sort of connective tissue while not intruding on Gen V’s story-line too much. Additionally, Butcher’s investigation into The Woods as well as his conversation with Grace Mallory over the phone can lead to someone, perhaps Butcher himself, making a cameo outside the credits as they seek to stop the evil actions being performed by the Administrative Staff of Godolkin Unviersity. All will be answered when Gen V Season 2 is released.
