Genshin Impact: 6 Most Selfish Characters
Some characters in Genshin Impact are selfish and demand uninterrupted field time and dedicated team.
Naturally, they make up for some of the weakest Genshin Impact characters story-wise. Funnily enough, many of the characters featured below are very strong as playable units. Out of the 89 playable characters in the game, these are the weakest Genshin Impact characters based on the game’s lore.
10 Hu Tao
Director Of The Wangsheng Funeral Parlor
- Weapon: Polearm
- Element: Pyro
Hu Tao is one of the strongest playable characters in Genshin Impact. However, her actual strength in the game’s lore is far from what players are accustomed to when using her in-game. Hu Tao’s knowledge of death and the afterlife is certainly interesting, but she explicitly states that she does not like fighting.
She also does not have any notable feats of strength or power. There is a possibility that she could become powerful in the future, but as it stands, Hu Tao is definitely one of the weakest characters in Genshin Impact‘s lore.
9 Baizhu
Owner Of Bubu Pharmacy
- Weapon: Catalyst
- Element: Dendro
Baizhu is a doctor from Liyue who is a master of the medicinal arts thanks to Changsheng, the white snake that he has a contract with. This contract essentially drains Baizhu’s life force at the cost of him being able to cure and save thousands of lives.

Genshin Impact: Best Story Quests, Ranked
Genshin Impact features a handful of story quests that stand above the rest. Here’s how they stack up.
Baizhu is determined to make himself Changsheng’s final host and end the cycle to prevent further deaths. His quest for immortality is commendable, but Baizhu is extremely weak when it comes to physicality. Unless he is able to achieve said immortality, Baizhu is easily one of the weakest characters in Genshin Impact, despite his knowledge and skills at curing people.
8 Layla
Sleep-Deprived Rtawahist Student
- Weapon: Sword
- Element: Cryo
Layla is a specialist in theoretical astrology and is part of the Rtawahist Darshan in the Sumeru Akademiya. She is chronically sleep-deprived, which takes a big toll on her health. This is because she has an alternate persona where she sleep-walks and completes all of her tasks efficiently.
The sleepwalking persona of Layla is quite unique and has a lot of potential in terms of lore strength. However, as it stands, Layla is definitely one of the weakest characters in Genshin Impact, having little to no impressive feats under her belt.
7 Barbara
Deaconess Of The Church Of Favonius
- Weapon: Catalyst
- Element: Hydro
Barbara is a very popular figure in Mondstadt and is essentially an idol with tons of fans. Barbara actually does not have any impressive abilities of her own. She is simply a kind-hearted deaconess of the Church of Favonius who wants to help others.
She even states that she wouldn’t be able to fend off a group of Treasure Hoards despite having a vision. On top of this, she lacks combat training. All of these traits justify Barbara’s position among the weakest characters in Genshin Impact.
6 Dori
Lord Sangemah Bay
- Weapon: Calymore
- Element: Electro
Dori Sangemah Bay is a renowned merchant in Sumeru known for charging exorbitant prices on her items. She is also the owner of the Palace of Alcarzarzaray. Dori is extremely wealthy and is pretty much obsessed with Mora, which has led her to indulge in the black market and employ questionable methods to acquire and sell items.
Apart from these features, Dori does not have many things in terms of pure strength in the lore. While she does have a lot of economic leverage, she lacks physical strength and magical powers that many other characters excel at. In fact, as a Claymore user, she does not even use the weapon; the Jinni does it for her. If Mora is out of the equation, Dori is easily one of the weakest characters in Genshin Impact.
5 Nilou
Zubayr Theater Dancer
- Weapon: Sword
- Element: Hydro
Nilou is a seasoned dancer for the Zubayr Theater and is one of the most featured characters from Sumeru. Unfortunately, her strength in lore does not match up with her gameplay power. While Nilou is physically fit and able to overcome ordinary foes, she lacks prominent feats that really make her a formidable threat in the story.
Nilou had a lot of moments in the spotlight during the Sumeru arc of the game’s story, but none of these showcased her powers or strength. Therefore, it is safe to say Nilou is an ordinary vision bearer with not a lot of potential to become a powerful character.
4 Charlotte
Journalist For The Steambird
- Weapon: Catalyst
- Element: Cryo
Charlotte is another character who is just an ordinary vision bearer in Genshin Impact’s story. She is a reporter for The Steambird, a Fontaine-based newspaper company. Charlotte is an excellent Cryo support, but she lacks these strengths in the lore.
Charlotte has a keen eye for the latest trends and goes out of her way to get the most tantalizing scoop of information for the public to relish. Apart from this, there really isn’t much to Charlotte, as she doesn’t possess any physical or magical strength that can match other characters.
3 Kaveh
Light Of Kshahrewar
- Weapon: Claymore
- Element: Dendro
Kaveh is a genius architect responsible for constructing the Palace of Alcazarzaray, which is considered to be his greatest work. However, he became bankrupt after this project, resulting in his shared living with Alhaitham. A former Kshahrewar Darshan student, Kaveh and his trusty case, Mehrak, primarily do tasks related to architecture despite being able to use Mehrak as a tool of combat as seen in-game.

Genshin Impact: Kaveh Ascension And Talent Materials List
A Kshahrewar architect and four-star Dendro character, Kaveh is going to need these materials to ascend.
Kaveh does not necessarily have the powers to match a lot of the other people in Sumeru. He was easily outclassed by Faruzan in trivial matters such as running. While Kaveh is undoubtedly a fantastic architect, he is simply not a powerful character in the lore, as he lacks combat training and unique powers.
2 Furina
A Former “God”
- Weapon: Sword
- Element: Hydro
Furina is one of the most troubled characters in Genshin Impact with a sad backstory. For 500 years, she had to act as the Hydro Archon to ensure that Focalors’ plan came into fruition. After the end of the Fontain Archon Quest series, Furina returned to being a normal person until her story quest, where she received a vision from Neuvillette.
Furina is still a very new vision bearer. She does not have any combat training and is a pacifist. For now, she remains one of the weaker characters in the Genshin Impact‘s lore. However, the nature of her vision, her ability to harness Pneuma and Ousia, and affinity with the Hydro element is a telling sign that Furina will not be weak for long.
1 Xinyan
Liyue’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Musician
- Weapon: Claymore
- Element: Pyro
Xinyan is arguably the weakest Genshin Impact characters based on the lore. She is another civilian with a vision that enables her to harness the Pyro element. Apart from being able to do basic feats that any vision bearer can recreate, she really doesn’t have any impressive ones.
Xinyan is one of the least touched upon characters in the story. A lot of the narratives regarding Xinyan explore her past and her passion for rock ‘n’ roll music. There is no indicative than Xinyan is a prolific fighter or an individual with great elemental affinity. Therefore, it is safe to assume she is a fairly weak character in Genshin Impact‘s story.
