Genshin Impact Leak Teases Two New Skins for Liyue Characters in Version 5.3

According to the latest information from the Genshin Impact beta servers, Hu Tao and Xiangling will receive two new skins during the upcoming Lantern Rite event. While Version 5.3 will forgo expanding the region of Natlan, the update is nonetheless expected to be heavy in content. It will conclude Natlan’s main story, introduce four new playable characters, feature the Lantern Rite event, and debut two new alternate outfits for Genshin Impact.

While the Event Banners aren’t yet fully known, Version 5.3 is expected to feature Mavuika in the first half and Citlali in the second half of the update. The second half will likely be oriented around the Lantern Rite in Genshin Impact, which is arguably its biggest annual Flagship Event. Not only will Genshin Impact players be able to obtain a sizable number of Primogems via the Lantern Rite, but they will also be able to invite a Liyue 4-Star character for free.

Thanks to the datamining efforts of HomDGCat, Genshin Impact players can finally know which two Liyue characters will have alternate skins bestowed upon them: Hu Tao and Xiangling. Hu Tao in Genshin Impact has always been popular among fans, and Xiangling remains one of the best 4-Stars in the game. Creating custom outfits for these iconic characters was only a matter of time. In Xiangling’s case, fans will be able to obtain the alternate skin for free during the Lantern Rite, whereas Hu Tao’s skin will exclusively be a Genesis Crystal purchase. Both outfits will be winter themed, though this doesn’t necessarily reveal their color scheme or overall look.

Hu Tao and Xiangling Are Getting New Lantern Rite Skins in Genshin Impact

Hu Tao and Xiangling will play a major role during the Lantern Rite event, but players can also expect to see Baizhu, Ningguang, Beidou, Yelan, as well as the new Genshin Impact character from Liyue, Lan Yan. Given how long it has been since Yelan and Baizhu featured in a Flagship Event, players will no doubt find the upcoming Lantern Rite full of happy reunions. Xiao will also appear during the Lantern Rite, which could potentially hint at a rerun in Version 5.3.

It would seem that Genshin Impact is primarily focusing on female characters when it comes to alternate skins, as Diluc, Kaeya, and Xingqiu remain the only male characters to receive a new outfit. While many players would have loved a proper Archon skin for Zhongli in Genshin Impact, Hu Tao and Xiangling are still strong choices for the upcoming Lantern Rite outfits.
