5 Figures of Aztec Mythology that Would be Great for God of War
These figures from Aztec Mythology will certainly be great additions to the God of War series.
Gods, Goddesses, and monsters from myth and legend all come into play, with some amazingly powerful women emerging as some of Kratos’s greatest allies or adversaries, so how do these women match in terms of their skills and strengths that make them formidable and respectable against Kratos, the Ghost of Sparta?
9 Angrboda
Imbued With the Strength and Foresight of Giants
Ragnarok served as the introduction of Angrboda, a giant from Norse mythology who is said to have been Loki’s lover, and the mother of Fenrir, Jormungandr, and Hel. She cares greatly for animals, but this loving side of her should not be mistaken for weakness, as Angrboda is anything but weak.
As she has the blood of giants in her veins, she has a great affinity for animals, which is demonstrated by her care and consideration for them, but also many powerful abilities that make her a force to be reckoned with. She has giant magic, magnified strength, and the gift of precognition, which allows her glimpses into the future through her paintings.
8 Aphrodite
Her Beauty Beguiles Even the Strongest-Willed People
The original God of War games explored the Greek Pantheon, bringing in all the Gods to stand at the mercy of Kratos and his bloody quest for revenge, though Aphrodite is the one Goddess that can make Kratos stay his blade.
God Of War: 10 Gods Who Are Far More Powerful In Their Mythology
From Hermes to Athena, the God of War franchise showcases some truly exceptional gods. However, can they live up to their mythological status?
As most people will know, Aphrodite is the Goddess of beauty and love and was renowned to be one of the most beautiful women of all time, and this beauty is a weapon in her hands. She can cause others to fall in love with her and even spellbind her opponents, so they dare not harm her, which she does to Kratos. While she may not be the physically strongest woman of all time, her mastery over the willpower of others still makes her a dangerous woman to be the enemy of.
7 Athena
Blessed/Cursed With Immortality
As one of the Olympian Goddesses, it is no surprise that Athena stands out as one of the most powerful characters of all. Blessed with immortality and invulnerability to all regular weapons, Athena has many other powers and abilities up her sleeve to ensure she is virtually unkillable.
Although Pandora’s Box and Blade of Olympus can harm her, her ability to create weapons, cast spells, and command armies of humans secures her spot as one of the mightiest women in the God of War series, Luckily enough for Kratos, she is never his enemy, sparing him from Ares and guiding him throughout several games before he was forced to kill her. Athena has a great intellect but lacks any combat prowess.
6 Thrud
Thor’s Daughter & Successor
As the daughter of Thor, it is unsurprising Thud sets herself apart as one of the game’s strongest women, with even Kratos taking note of her combative skills. Taking after both her father Thor and mother Sif, she excels at combat while duel-wielding swords, and can also command and generate lightning, which she can also imbue her weapons with.
Also blessed with immortality, superhuman strength, and flight, Thrud is more than capable of holding her own in a fight, but her affluent nature means she doesn’t get into too many scraps without cause, and she will soon become the new God of Thunder.
5 Laufey (God of War 2018)
Kratos’ Wife, An Even Match
The second wife of Kratos and the mother of Atreus was a far cry from a simple homemaker, as she was one of the strongest women in the world. Her prowess was enough to draw the attention of the God of Thunder, Thor, and the fearless god-slayer Kratos, who himself praised her combat abilities.
But Faye isn’t just adept with a sword and a bow but is blessed with superhuman strength, precognition, and magic, with the ability to even ward off the All-Father Odin with the protective barriers she cast. She might just be the strongest woman in the Norse God of War games, which makes her premature death even more shocking.
4 Gaia
An Omniscient Titan
As a Titan, Gaia is an incredibly strong creature players encounter first in the second God of War, but she acts as a narrator for much of the series, hinting that she has the power of omniscience. But that is just one of the many powers in Gaia’s arsenal, as she has many other powers that make her one of the greatest threats to Kratos, even if she started as an ally.
Gaia can also command mastery over the earth, is blessed with superhuman strength and durability, has considerable healing powers, and is immortal like most of the Gods. As such, Gaia is a powerful being that should definitely be approached with caution, even for the fearless Kratos. However, not even her mass could stop the might of the Blade of Olympus.
3 Sigrun (God of War 2018)
The Valkyrie Queen
The Valkyries were a force to be reckoned with in 2018’s God of War, but none so much as Sigrun, the Queen of the Valkyries. Like her sisters, she can fly thanks to her wings, travel between realms thanks to the Bifrost, is immortal, but also has the powers of several other Valkyries at her disposal.
Fire, lava, ice, and smoke are all elements she can master to devastating effect, to the woe of anyone unlucky enough to be her foe. Also, when she is in her corrupted form, her wings are less organic and more metallic, which can double as weapons capable of slashing her enemies to pieces. She manages to fight both Kratos and Atreus for an extended period of time, which is a testament to this Valkyrie’s tireless stamina and durability.
2 Gna
Odin’s Loyal Valkyrie Queen
After Sigrun was cleansed of her corruption and defected from her position as the Valkyrie Queen, Odin elected a new one who was far more zealous in her beliefs and loyalty to Asgard: Gna. And unfortunately for Kratos and co., she is even more powerful than the impressive former Queen.
God of War Ragnarok: The Hardest Boss Fights, Ranked By Difficulty
God of War Ragnarok has over 50 bosses to keep players on their toes through Kratos and Atreus’s journey. These are some of the hardest to defeat.
She has almost all of the powers and abilities Sigrun had, including the metallic wings, superhuman strength, and durability, but with the addition of mastery over ice, electricity, and earth, all of which she utilizes to devastating effect in her battle against Kratos and Freya. Even if she was inevitably thwarted, Gna still posed an imposing threat with her superior powers and strength.
1 Freya
The Original Valkyrie Queen & Witch of the Woods
Introduced in 2018’s God of War, Freya immediately set herself apart as one of the most powerful women in the entire series. The Valkyries revered her for her strength, and Mimir went as far as to call her Odin’s deadliest enemies. These aren’t just pretty words, her reputation is certainly backed up by the powerful spells in her arsenal, such as invulnerability spells, shapeshifting, and being able to summon forth allies to overwhelm her enemies.
On top of her mastery over witchcraft, Freya is also a skilled combatant who certainly knows her way around a sword. She even proves herself an equal to Kratos on many occasions, overpowering him in battle, though he is hesitant to harm her. Freya is definitely a woman anyone would want to have on their side, as she certainly would make a formidable foe.
