Gran Turismo 7 has just released update 1.43, which adds three new cars, as well as more races, and fixes a few issues. Overall, this is a fairly substantial update, and while it may not be as big as some of the ones from last year, it’s still a great addition to Gran Turismo 7.
Released in 2022, Gran Turismo 7 quickly received positive reviews, achieving a score of 87 on Metacritic. While the racing game was criticized by some fans for having too many microtransactions, it still maintained its popularity over time, and part of the reason for that is due to developer Polyphony Digital providing regular content updates for the community.
Why Gran Turismo 7’s Success on PS VR2 Bodes Well For a Flight Sim
The positive response to Gran Turismo 7 on PS VR2 from casual players and hardcore sim fans shows Sony has an opening to release a great flight sim.
Like in previous Gran Turismo 7 patches, the main attraction of the new update 1.43 is the introduction of new cars. Players will be able to try out three new vehicles: Audi TTS Coupe ’09, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR GSR ’06, and Renault R4 GTL ’85. While Audi and Mitsubishi’s vehicles can be purchased via Brand Central, Renault’s car can be bought via Used Car Dealer rotation. With the most expensive of the new vehicles being priced at 100,000 credits, none of them are too expensive. The update also introduces more World Circuits, adding three new races: Laguna Seca, Tsukuba Circuit, and Suzuka Circuit, all of which have three laps.

There’s plenty of new content besides cars and races, too. Examples include the Bvlgari brand added to the game’s Museum, the addition of an Extra Menu with a Lamborghini collection, and the introduction of five new engine swaps with Japanese cars. Apart from these content upgrades, the update also makes small changes to localization and fixes a few issues that were still around. By continuing to add content to Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digital is helping the title to remain among the best PS5 racing games, especially for people who like highly realistic gameplay with a huge variety of cars.
It seems that the regular updates are working well to keep Gran Turismo 7 as a popular pick for gamers. Despite being almost two years old, Gran Turismo 7 is still appearing on the best-selling games charts. In January, the title ranked as the 16th most-sold video game, behind titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Tekken 8, Persona 3 Reload, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but still ahead of any other racing game on the list.
