Game developer Cygames has revealed that the company will be releasing a demo for Granblue Fantasy: Relink in January. The highly anticipated Relink has gone through a tumultuous development period since it was announced back in 2016 under a different name. Initially, the title was meant to be a joint project between Cygames and PlatinumGames, a studio known for Bayonetta and Nier: Automata. But by December 2018, the game was officially titled Granblue Fantasy: Relink, with PlatinumGames pulling out of development just a few months later, in February 2019.
The game has had a history of delays, with Cygames announcing that Granblue Fantasy: Relink would be released in 2022 before bumping that date to 2023 and now, finally, to February 1, 2024. But despite these delays, fans have been excited to get their hands on the game, and now they may not have to wait much longer.
6 Characters We Hope to See in Granblue Fantasy: Relink
Granblue Fantasy: Relink features just a few characters from a massive roster of Granblue Fantasy characters who could be great fits for the RPG.
Cygames has officially announced on Twitter that Granblue Fantasy: Relink will be getting a demo exclusive to the PS4 and PS5 in January. Players will get to experience some of the main story, as well as online multiplayer quests and 11 playable characters, with rewards being transferable to the full game. Additionally, the demo will have three modes: Tutorial, Story, and Quest, which is where players will get to explore with others.
The developer also released a slew of other information regarding the game during the winter session of Granblue Fantasy Fes 2023, the company’s annual event that involves a variety of stage shows with a wide range of cast members, as well as attractions and exhibitions. The developer also revealed several new Granblue Fantasy: Relink characters, such as an alchemist called Cagliostro, who will be available at launch, and Seofon Tweyen, members of the Eternals, a group of weapon masters, who will join the roster in an April update. Also introduced were three members of the Church of Avia: Maglielle, a sword master; Gallanza, a halberd wielder; and Id, who serves as a foil to the main character.
Three new creatures called primal beasts, who possess godlike powers, were also showcased. The first resembled a centaur and was called Furycane, the primal beast of vitality; the second had a sharp horn and was referred to as Managarmr, the primal beast of sequestration, while the third was a robotic-looking one, named Excavallion, the primal beast of fortification.
With DLC on the way, gamers are closer than ever to getting to experience the long-awaited RPG that reminds some fans of Final Fantasy 16. While it is unknown exactly when the DLC will be released, Cygames is hosting a showcase on January 11 to reveal more details about the game, so news of the Granblue Fantasy: Relink DLC may drop around that time.
