Trinkets are a seemingly minor feature in the growing world of the cooperative survival game Grounded. Trinkets, only one of which can be carried by a player at any given moment, will provide characters with a passive effect when equipped. Despite it being a minor feature, these passive abilities can be very useful in certain gameplay moments.

Players have five upgrade paths to work with in Grounded. Here’s how they stack up.

With over 30 different trinkets to be found and equipped and three ranks to choose from, it can be hard to know where to start. Fear not, this list will address the best trinkets that Grounded has to offer and provide players, if applicable, with what they need to find or craft in order to acquire them.

6 Fluffy Dandelion Tuft

No More Fall Damage

Fluffy Dandelion Tuft Trinket

  • Tier: 2
  • Duplication Cost: 5000 Raw Science

An improved version of the Dandelion Tuft, the Fluffy Dandelion Tuft allows the user to glide down to the ground from great heights without taking any fall damage. It’s important to always keep one of these on hand, as it may become useful as players explore the open world.

Although this trinket is, unlike others on this list, only useful in certain moments, players should also note that it is a rare drop from a dandelion, so it is best to keep their eyes peeled. They’ll never know when they might need to glide from a great height until the moment arrives.

5 Compliance Badge

For The Blockers

Compliance Badge trinket

  • Tier: 2
  • Duplication Cost: 7500 Raw Science

This trinket has two primary effects, one positive and one negative. It grants the Parry Heal effect, which allows the player to heal 8 points of health with every parry, as well as granting a 45% increase in damage taken by attacks. This is a trade-off that experienced players will enjoy more than newcomers.

If players can get parrying right most of the time, then the Compliance Badge is a very useful trinket. If not, perhaps it’s best to give it a miss. This required skill level leads to it appearing at a lower place on this list than maybe it deserves. It can be found under the power outlet on the outskirts of the Hedge.

4 Volatile Fang

Defense Is The Best Form Of Offense

Volatile fang trinket

  • Tier: 3
  • Duplication Cost: 10,000 Raw Science

When equipped by a character, the Volatile Fang turns a player’s perfect block of enemy attacks into a 30% chance to explode, leading to 120 explosive damage. Unlike previous entries on this list, no trade-off the other way is required. This is a potentially dangerous ability that could turn the tide in close battles when triggered.

A Volatile Fang can be acquired by stealing it from an Infected Wolf Spider. Players can do this to these strong enemies by using the Sticky Fingers Trinket, or the Rascal Rogue mutation, which gives the player’s attacks a chance to steal items from their target.

3 Power Droplet

Fire And Fury

Power droplet Trinket

  • Tier: 3
  • Duplication Cost: 10,000 Raw Science

The Power Droplet grants the player the Fury status effect, and the perks that go with it. Fury grants the player a 25% chance of a second hit when using an unarmed attack. These second hits deal 6 damage and have a small chance to stun the opponent. Even more, mutations or status effects can stack on the second hit, and this second hit counts as all types of damage apart from unarmed.

The Power Droplet is an extremely effective tool that lets players create scenarios where a range of enemies can be defeated with a few unarmed strikes and some luck. This Trinket can be found at the top of the Brawny Boy Bin, but keep an eye out, as it is well hidden, and make sure to suit up for the Wasps that call that place home.

2 Sarah’s Charm

Craft A Workbench

Sarah's charm trinket

  • Tier: 3
  • Duplication Cost: 10,000 Raw Science

Sarah’s Charm is a Trinket that players have to craft for themselves. Players must first acquire two other Trinkets: the Left Elf Charm and the Right Elf Charm, and combine them with 10 tough gunk and 2 pond moss. The two Trinkets are inside a chest near the Pond Dome and a chest in the second room of the Stump Lab Outpost.

This Trinket combines the power of these two Elf Charms to create an item that can cause melee attacks to repair the equipped melee weapon and, concurrently, give the player a 10% chance of increasing the durability of their shield when used to block an attack. This will be tremendously useful to players who find it annoying to continually manage/repair their weapons. For others, it will prevent any breakage mid-fight, which is hard to pass up.

1 Thor’s Pendant

Bonuses To Almost Everything

Thor's Pendant trinket

  • Tier: 3
  • Duplication Cost: 7,500 Raw Science

Thor’s Pendant delivers a boost to most relevant stats. The buff is a 10% bonus, and there is a long list of affected stats: health and stamina regeneration, critical hit chance and damage, hunger and thirst drain rates, and some others. This will improve a player’s character in a diverse range of metrics, from attacking enemies to survival gameplay systems like hunger and thirst.

To acquire this exceptional Trinket, players will have to head to the far east of the Upper Grasslands. Keep an eye out for a landmark in this area called the Stump. Once players have located this tree stump, head to the north side and climb to the top. A thorough search should result in players finding the trinket in a small crevice. Watch out for the ticks and wolf spiders that will try to prevent any trespassers on this land.
