Key Takeaways

  • Orichalcum nodes provide valuable metal crafting materials in Guild Wars 2.
  • Gathering rich orichalcum nodes daily with mounts and stealth skills can accumulate wealth.
  • Rich nodes spawn in these specific locations across Tyria, guarded by powerful enemies.

The highest tier of metal crafting materials in Guild Wars 2, orichalcum, is a rare and expensive ore used in weapon and armor crafting. Alongside other farms, such as a flax run, selling a stack every day can help to accumulate a small fortune in gold. While they can be found throughout the world, including the rich variety, orichalcum nodes are limited and spawn sporadically across Tyria. However, there are a handful of rich nodes that can be mined once a day and are guaranteed to appear in the same location.

Guild Wars 2: Best Masteries, Ranked

Guild Wars 2’s mastery system allows for horizontal progression, but which masteries rise above the rest?

“Path of Fire” is required to get all of these nodes, as are the traversal abilities of PoF’s mounts. All nodes can be found with the expansion’s set, but Season 4’s skyscale makes gathering much easier. Gathering is always made easier with skills that grant invisibility, and the thief, mesmer, or engineer (with its scrapper elite specialization) make perfect candidates for undercover mining activities.

Crystal Oasis – Amnoon Southern Outskirts, Vulture Den

In The Vulture’s Lair On The Outskirts Of The City

  • Recommended Mounts: Roller Beetle & Griffon

Starting at the Amnoon Waypoint, head out from the eastern gate and head southeast. Up some rocky platforms, on the rightmost side of the rocky wall, is an entrance to a mining area with some veteran vultures.

Dispatch them or avoid them and find a rich orichalcum node on the right-hand side. In addition to this relatively closeby rich node, there are plenty of single orichalcum ore nodes in and around Amnoon, but unlike the one protected by vultures in the mine, their locations across the desert vary.

Crystal Oasis – Destiny’s Gorge

Climbing Up And Into The Forge-Held Mines

  • Recommended Mounts: Sand Jackal

Starting at the Destiny’s Gorge Waypoint, head north. Follow along the river and take the rightward fork. Head up the ramps and head left at the top, into the mines that are overrun with powerful Forged enemies. Follow the rising minecart track and head left.

At the end of this track is a rich orichalcum node. After gathering all of the ore, consider grabbing the quartz crystal that can be found nearby on the other side of the cave. With a skyscale, it is easy to reach the rich quartz crystal node above the Forged-swarmed mine, above and to the west.

Crystal Oasis – Elona Reach, Temple of Kormir

Overlooking The Temple At The Base Of A Tree

  • Recommended Mounts: Skyscale & Springer

From the circular platform surrounding the Temple of Kormir Waypoint, run north. With a skyscale, climb directly up the cliff face using the village buildings. Without a skyscale, take the eastward road and turn back at the top to the west.

Guild Wars 2: Every Expac And Living World Season, Ranked

Guild Wars 2 has had a long and storied history, marked by great expansions and Living World updates that made it a beloved staple in the MMO genre.

Beware of the Forged traps and sharpshooters at the top, as they can quickly knock even the best Guild Wars 2 players off their beautiful mounts. The large tree overlooking the Temple of Kormir, guarded by veteran Dust Mite twisters, hides the rich orichalcum node.

Desert Highlands – Highjump Ranch

A Jump And A Short Flight Over From The Ranch

  • Recommended Mounts: Griffon or Skyscale

This rich orichalcum node can be found to the east of Highjump Ranch. From the waypoint, climb as high as possible before setting off south by air. The second step, besides the long plateau, is protected by veteran jacarandas.

The jacarandas have crowd control knockbacks and can quickly swarm, but behind the tree they are guarding is the rich node. A single orichalcum can sometimes be found nearby on the plateau above.

Desert Highlands – Brightwater

Mining The Middle Of A Mushroom-Shaped Plateau

  • Recommended Mounts: Springer or Griffon

On the world map, this rich orichalcum node looks tantalizingly close to the Brightwater Waypoint, but there is quite a vertical climb between it and the prize. The best path up is northward, up the steep ledges. From there, double back and find a way to hop onto the mushroom-like platforms.

The larger of the two contains the rich node but is guarded by a veteran Dust Mite twister. Dispatch it and start mining. With a flying mount like the skyscale, it is possible to follow the narrow plateau north for the rich orichalcum node that would otherwise be flown to from Highjump Ranch.

The Desolation – Sand Jackel Run

On The Slither Of Walkable Terrain

  • Recommended Mounts: the skimmer

The run to this vein is relatively simple, but the wyrms, insects, and patrolling Awakened can make collection tricky. From Sand Jackel Run Waypoint, head east across the sulfur on a skimmer toward the dark-colored dome.

Most MMOs have a massive world for players to explore, so having a mount is crucial for getting around quickly.

The dome on the map depicts a floating tower, and the rich orichalcum vein is right below it. The wyrm will shoot projectiles from a distance, and any other enemies around the area can be deadly. There is also a regular orichalcum node to the north, which is worth checking.

The Desolation – Lair of the Forgotten

Up And Around The Corner From The Snake’s Lair

  • Recommended Mounts: Raptor

From the Lair of the Forgotten Waypoint, go northeast down the valley beyond the gate. Take the winding road toward the sulfur pit but keep the the left-hand side.

The rich orichalcum vein is situated against a black rocky hillside. There will be either a veteran sand eel or ghostly hyenas guarding the prize.

The Desolation – Bonestrand

The Secret Behind The Great Waterfall

  • Recommended Mounts: Skimmer & Sand Jackal (Required)

Starting at Bonestrand Waypoint, at the top of The Desolation against the Bone Wall against the Elon Riverlands, head directly east across the water, the natural land bridge, then the lake, toward the waterfall.

Using a sand jackel, head up the hill and look for a sand portal amid the waterfalls. Use the jackal’s stylish teleport power to blink into the cave, where a statue of Abaddon (Guild Wars 2‘s lost and tentacled god of secrets) stands watching. To the statue’s right is the node.

Domain Of Vabbi – Sunspear Sanctuary

Two Rich Nodes Northeast And Southwest

  • Recommended Mounts: Griffon or Skyscale

This node is easier to get to with the Spearmarshal’s Plea gizmo, which can be acquired during the quest line to unlock the griffon (but cannot, unfortunately, be re-acquired if previously destroyed).

Without the Spearmarshal’s Plea, the best place to start is the Market Ruins Waypoint by the left of the Brand scar, and from there, to the Spearmarshal’s Lement point of interest. The rich vein is found on the southern road at the furthest southeastern part of the map.

Domain Of Vabbi – Necropolis, At The Base of the Crypt

A Well-Guarded Spot At The Bottom Of The Tar Pit

  • Recommended Mounts: Sand Jackal or Skyscale

For snagging the orichalcum ore at this location, skills that confer stealth come highly recommended. The fastest way in is via the Necropolis Waypoint. Head up into the enormous building to the southwest with the red dome.

Find the stairs down to the back. Under the spiral stairs is another way down to The Crypts point of interest. Try to find the lowest section without drawing the ire of the living dead. At the very lowest part, down a slope, is a very powerful Awakened Abomination. Stealth by and snag the ore.

The Domain of Kourna – Dabiji Hollows (Living World Season 4, Episode 3)

At The Tippy Top Of The Desert Mountain

  • Recommended Mounts: Springer or Skyscale

This location requires Guild Wars 2‘s “Living World Season 4” episode, Long Live The Lich, as well as the “Path of Fire” expansion. Gain air from the Dabjaji Waypoint and head towards the mountains across the bridge.

After reaching the mountains, climb up and leftward, where a couple of vultures perch. The rich orichalcum node is on one of the small, tall platformers. There is also a rich mithril vein on the mountaintop nearby.
