One Helldivers 2 player shared their neat ideas for new planetary hazards that could be added to the top-down shooter in the future. In a recent update, Helldivers 2 has introduced two new planetary hazards, blizzards and sandstorms, that have their own effects. Blizzards reduce the player’s mobility and make it almost impossible to see enemy units. Sandstorms, on the other hand, are paired with intense heat that increases stamina drain.
Helldivers 2 is off to a good start, with the game selling more than 8 million copies worldwide. Shortly after its release, the top-down shooter hit an impressive concurrent player count of 458,709, which forced Arrowhead to increase the server capacity. Over the past few weeks, players have praised some aspects of Helldivers 2, including its chaotic combat that requires teamwork and collaboration. Now, they are calling for key changes that could improve their gameplay experience.
Helldivers 2 Update Fixes Crashes, Stability Issues, and More
Helldivers 2 releases Patch 01.000.203 for the game, bringing a variety of fixes for crashes, stability issues, and more miscellaneous bugs.
One Helldivers 2 player, known on Reddit as ThePengu, shared a list of planetary effects that could be added to the game in the future. The list features a total of 15 effects, each changing the game’s environment differently. For instance, Acid Geizers create an area of corrosive gas, while Tropical Monsoons reduce the visibility to nearly zero. Among these environmental conditions are reworked versions of Fire Tornadoes, which appear intermittently and can be dispersed with Helldivers 2‘s smoke stratagem.
Aside from Tropical Monsoons and Acid Geizers, there are other planetary hazards on ThePengu’s list, including Micrometeor Showers, Flash Floods, Pyroclastic Vents, Low Gravity, Nuclear Winter, and Automaton Junkyards. It’s safe to assume that the developers could bring some of them to Helldivers 2 in a future update.
Helldivers 2’s Planetary Effects Add To The Game’s Difficulty
Helldivers 2 has a number of planetary hazards, otherwise known as environmental effects, that appear randomly and make the game’s combat even more challenging. Players must adapt to these temporary effects, which are meant to disrupt missions. Luckily, planetary hazards affect players and enemies alike, meaning they don’t give an unfair advantage to one side.
Since the game’s initial launch, Helldivers 2 players have come up with clever suggestions to improve certain aspects of the game. Some called for key changes to defense missions, and others urged Arrowhead to buff several support stratagems that couldn’t stay relevant in the current meta. Recently, one Helldivers 2 player shared an idea to improve the flamethrower, claiming they should be able to aim this weapon downward when using their jump back.
