The name of a player’s SES Destroyer ship in Helldivers 2 says a lot about them as a teammate. For the most part, some players prefer to seize this opportunity to roleplay as Super Earth’s finest soldier, some players tell a witty joke, and others pick a name based on what closest fits their real-world values. Overall, selecting a name for the Destroyer ship in Helldivers 2 is a subtle, yet memorable part of the experience, even if it has no impact on the minute-to-minute gameplay loop.

Despite being such a subtle feature, the SES Destroyer ship naming scheme is a great addition to Helldivers 2, nonetheless. So, in hindsight, it’s time that the fun of this kind of customization comes to other aspects of Helldivers 2. One such feature that could arguably stand to benefit from the SES Destroyer’s naming scheme is the players’ titles. This kind of change could likely take what’s already considered a welcome addition to the game to the next level.

Helldivers 2 Still Has Plenty of Room to Grow With More Customization Options

As it currently stands, Helldivers 2 has plenty of room to grow with new customization options that give players more control over the appearance of their armor, weaponry, and in-game account. The recently introduced Hellpod, Pelican-1, and mech suit color palettes are a good start to this endeavor, but these are only the tip of the iceberg for what kinds of new layers of customization could come to the game.

Even in light of the news that Arrowhead Studio is against the idea of a transmog system for body armor in Helldivers 2, there are still plenty of options for new customization features that remain a possibility. Ultimately, the sky is the limit for what kind of customization options future updates could bring to the game.

Helldivers 2’s Player Titles and Emblems Deserve the SES Destroyer Ship Treatment

One such feature that could benefit from more customization options is the various emblems and player titles in Helldivers 2. More specifically, Helldivers 2 should give the titles the same naming scheme as the SES Destroyer ships. Given how much players take pride in the name of their SES Destroyer ship, the naming scheme for the SES Destroyer ship is an underrated feature that could bring a whole new level of value to players’ titles.

In the grand scheme of things, the players’ title and the name of their SES Destroyer ship in Helldivers 2 are only cosmetic changes that have no impact on gameplay. However, this doesn’t mean that players don’t enjoy interacting with these features and showing off the different possible combinations to fellow Helldivers.

As early as the first day of Helldivers 2’s release, players discovered several Easter eggs in Helldivers 2 via Destroyer ship name combinations that reference other video game franchises. One of the more well-known ship names that references another gaming franchise is the Hammer of Dawn, which is the famous orbital-laser weapon of the same name from the Gears of War games. Some players believe that there are Halo and Destiny references hidden in the possible Destroyer Ship name combinations as well.

Letting players mix and match titles and their associated emblems could allow players to represent their in-game character with a more personal combination. Titles can still be locked behind certain progression milestones and premium Warbonds in Helldivers 2, this doesn’t need to change, though how players equip them could do for a rework. Helldivers 2 continuing to add more titles and emblems in future updates is sure to be a welcome addition to the game. However, opening up to more customization options like the SES Destroyer ship’s naming scheme offers could bring a whole new level of enjoyment to players’ titles, especially as new updates make additional combinations possible.
