Building the right team is critical for success and survival in Helldivers 2. Each player needs to drop with the best possible loadout for the mission. Boosters play a vital part here because they are the only upgrade in the game that affects the entire team, not just the player.

Vitality Enhancement is the second booster that you unlock in Helldivers 2 from the fourth page of your Standard Warbonds. Most players tend to ignore it for other boosters, such as Hellpod Space Optimization and Stamina Enhancement. This is because of its vague official description, which makes it sound useless; it is not. In fact, a team should try to always have a Vitality booster to improve their survival chances and combat prowess.

What Does Vitality Enhancement Do in Helldivers 2?

Helldivers 2 Injury List

According to the in-game description, the Vitality Enhancement booster allows you to resist injury. In reality, though, it does a lot more. For starters, the Vitality booster not only allows you to resist an injury, but it also allows you to resist all injuries in Helldivers 2. That is important to know because there are different types of injuries you can sustain in combat.

Whenever you take a certain amount of damage or hits from either an enemy or friendly fire, there is a chance that one of your limbs or body parts gets injured. This will be confirmed by a series of red icons for each limb, as shown in the image above.

Something important that Helldivers 2 does not tell players is that each injury carries a debuff. The only way of removing those negative effects is to heal your wounds using a Stim.

Injury Type

Effects

Head

Stops you from regenerating stamina.

Chest

Bleeds you for damage over time.

Left Arm

Reduces your firing accuracy.

Right Arm

Reduces your throwing range.

Left Leg

Reduces your walking speed.

Right Leg

Reduces your running speed.

Do note that Vitality Enhancement does not make you immune to injuries in Helldivers 2. It only reduces the chance of injuries or increases the amount of damage needed for an injury. It can also be said in the same vein that equipping a Vitality booster increases your overall health since you can sustain an additional hit or two before getting injured.

The good thing is that the Vitality Enhancement booster stacks with armor passives. So, the type of armor you wear in Helldivers 2 will further increase your resistance to injuries.

  • Democracy Protects: Makes you immune to chest (bleeding) injuries.
  • Servo-Assisted: Increases your limb health by 50 percent.
  • Med Kit: Makes you immune to injuries for 2 additional seconds after using a Stim.

Save your Stims! Some injuries are not that bad. You do not need to heal every time your screen flashes red.

How Good Is the Vitality Booster in Helldivers 2?

Vitality Enhancement is easily one of the best boosters to equip in Helldivers 2. The only reason so many players are sleeping on it is because of the lack of details. You are going to find yourself injured on every mission. Being able to reduce injuries for not only yourself but the entire team means better combat efficiency and saving your precious reinforcements.

The only time you should not take Vitality Enhancement is when unlocking the “That which does not kill you…” trophy/achievement. This Helldivers 2 trophy requires you to be injured in all limbs at the same time.
