  • Fans of Hogwarts Legacy can expect bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements in the upcoming Summer Update.
  • Hogwarts Legacy’s success could mean limited content updates in the future, with a sequel potentially in development.

The creators of Hogwarts Legacy have just teased the next updates for the game, including the Haunted Hogsmeade Quest coming to non-PlayStation platforms and more information about the Summer Update. Hogwarts Legacy has not seen a major update in a while, but fans will discover what’s in store for the next few months later this week.

Released early in 2023, Hogwarts Legacy was the biggest hit of the year. Not only did the title manage to sell over 24 million units on different platforms, but it was also the best-selling game of the whole year, beating the latest Zelda by almost 2 million copies. Despite its huge success, Hogwarts Legacy does not have content updates very often. This may have disappointed some players, but it makes sense considering it’s a single-player game.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Could Work Wonders With a Dark Setting From Harry Potter Canon

Hogwarts Legacy 2 has a myriad of settings to choose from, but one from the Harry Potter canon can pave the path for darker events and choices.

Now, Hogwarts Legacy has teased two events on social media, which will be detailed sometime later this week. The first change is that the Haunted Hogsmeade Quest will come to all platforms, and the actual release date for this content update will be unveiled soon. Also known as “Minding Your Own Business,” the Haunted Hogsmeade Quest was released exclusively for the PS5 version of Hogwarts Legacy. In this quest, the players get to own their own Hogsmeade shop, but it’s haunted by a poltergeist that they have to deal with first.

In the same announcement, it was also confirmed that players will gain more information about the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy Summer Update together with the release date for the previously PS5-exclusive quest. The Summer Update was already teased a few months ago, and its actual content remains unclear. While it’s not expected that Hogwarts Legacy players will gain major content updates such as new quests or areas, it’s likely that the update may fix several small bugs still present in the game and add quality-of-life features. Some gamers have also speculated that the new update may bring more cosmetics or a Photo Mode to Hogwarts Legacy, but none of these possible changes have been confirmed so far.

The Summer Update will likely be the last major update Hogwarts Legacy will receive. Despite the sequel not being officially confirmed yet, Hogwarts Legacy 2 is probably already in development, considering several recent leaks and job postings seem to corroborate its existence. So, it seems natural that Avalanche Software will focus on developing the new game, which will likely not be available for quite some time.
