Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to shroud itself in mystery regarding any news about its release. Although there’s no telling when it will officially come out, it at least gives Team Cherry time to craft everything the game needs to garner success. The known information about Silksong‘s characters, settings, and enemies already shows promise, yet the game can reach even greater heights with a few additions. A good example would be reusing cut content that was originally intended for Hollow Knight, and there’s a particular one that, if introduced in the sequel, could make it even more compelling to play through.

With Hollow Knight: Silksong being a direct sequel to Hollow Knight, some fans will expect at least a few things that help tie both games. Team Cherry’s first title may have something to help link it and the sequel, coming in the form of cut content regarding one of The Five Great Knights named Dryya. The character was originally planned to be a boss fight in Hollow Knight during the game’s early development days on Kickstarter, but it never made it to the final product. The sequel could still use it, as doing so will give it another interesting foe to go against while also helping it develop more interesting content via the fight’s history.

How to Justify Placing the Dryya Boss Fight in Silksong

Although it shows that the queen’s guardian of The Five Great Knights of Hollow Knight has passed, that does not mean there’s no way to use her in the sequel. Here are a few things that Silksong can do to help justify having the boss fight in the game:

  • Give Hornet something similar to the Dream Nail and allow her to go back to the Queen’s Gardens to find Dryya’s corpse, explaining the fight is in the form of a memory
  • The game could have a major enemy that revives deceased characters to fight Hornet, with Dryya being one of them
  • Something similar to Godhome from Hollow Knight could be put in the sequel, making Dryya an optional boss rather than being part of the main storyline

Figuring out how to implement Dryya could be one of the big ways Silksong can capitalize on its development time. Though little is known about the character herself, the sequel could dive more into it, making going against her more meaningful while giving the game something else to work with for more future content.

Why Implementing Dryya’s Boss Fight Can Mean Even More Content for Silksong

While adding the cut content is a good way for Silksong to earn goodwill, there’s a way to utilize it to earn even more. If the sequel’s world is as big as the developers promise it to be, then it should be doable to implement the characters. Although events in Hollow Knight show that some of the members have passed, a potential survivor named Hegemol could be introduced in Silksong and be used as the catalyst for a quest line regarding what happened.

His addition could lead to more boss fights against The Five Great Knights besides Dryya, and perhaps even a deep storyline that brings the sequel and its predecessor close together.

Hollow Knight: Silksong‘s kingdom of Pharloom is intended to be huge, but it needs the right content to make it feel alive and meaningful. Putting the Dryya boss fight can help do that, as not only is it another battle for players to look forward to, but it has the potential to give the game more characters, fights, and even stories if implemented right.
