Elden Ring allows players to customize their characters to a very high degree. With 8 different stats, numerous armor sets, and more weapons than you’ll ever need, the game has something for everyone. However, the most important part of customizing any build is the talismans that you equip.
At the start of the game, players can only equip one single talisman at a time, since they don’t have any talisman pouches. However, as the game progresses, players can unlock more talisman slots by obtaining talisman pouches.

Elden Ring contains a lot of overpowered weapons for players to discover. These are the best examples from each of the main weapon categories.
How To Increase Talisman Slots in Elden Ring
To increase the amount of talismans you can carry at once, players have to play through the game. They can get Talisman Pouches, key items that unlock more talisman slots, by progressing through the game and defeating bosses. In total, players will get three more talisman slots, for a total of four slots.
Second Talisman Slot
The first extra talisman slot that players will unlock can be obtained by defeating Margit the Fell Omen at Stormveil castle in Limgrave. Since he’s the first boss that most players will face, he might give you some trouble. Once you learn his moveset and use the proper Elden Bling strategies, you’ll have him quivering at your feet in no time.
After defeating him, players will gain access to another Talisman slot, letting them create a semblance of a build moving forward. If players skip the Stormveil castle entirely, they can still get the talisman pouch by progressing in the game. Morgott, a mandatory boss and the true face of Margit, will drop the talisman pouch during his boss fight at Leyndell, the Royal Capital.
Third Talisman Slot
After players have defeated two Demigods and gained their Great Runes, they can unlock the third talisman slot. There isn’t any restriction on which great runes they need to have, any two will work just fine. The easiest bosses to beat in the early game are Godrick the Grafted and Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. These two can be found at Stormveil Castle and the Academy of Raya Lucaria respectively.
Other demigods include Starscourge Radahn , Morgott, the Omen King , Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy , Malenia, Blade of Miquella , and Mohg, Lord of Blood . After restoring any two great runes, players can talk to the Finger Reader Enia to gain another talisman pouch.
If players have progressed past the point where they can talk to the Finger Reader Enia, they can find a Talisman Pouch at the Twin Maiden Husks.

Fourth Talisman Slot
Once players reach Leyndell, they will have to fight a shade of Godfrey, the First Elden Lord to progress further in the story. Thankfully, they don’t need to fight the real deal, at least not yet. Once they defeat the ghost of the Elden Lord, they will get another talisman pouch, giving them four talisman slots in total.
Unfortunately, there aren’t any ways to increase talisman slots beyond this point, even if you play new game plus. Elden Ring has an active modding community where players can find some options if they want to experiment with even more talisman slots, but the entire game is balanced around the player having four slots total, so you don’t have to worry about falling short.
There isn’t any set path for getting the extra talisman slots. Players can go through the game through any route or with any strategy, and they will still end up gathering a total of 4 talisman slots.
