A Halo fan shows what it would look like if the Covenant, the sci-fi franchise’s iconic and most prominent enemy faction, invaded New York City. Fans of Xbox’s premier FPS franchise, Halo, have had their ups and downs recently. While many have been enjoying the improvements that have been made to Halo Infinite‘s multiplayer suite in the years since its lukewarm 2021 launch, fans of the Paramount+ TV series have been let down as the show has been canceled after its better received second season released earlier this year.

Perhaps one of the most iconic groups of enemies in the history of video games, Halo‘s Covenant are a hostile faction of alien species that players frequently come face to face with in the series. There are a number of different Covenant enemy types players face off against throughout the Halo games. From the nearly harmless and often quite humorous Grunts, to the Jackals and Elites, to some of the more challenging enemies like the intimidating pairs of Hunters, the classic purple and green appearance of these enemies, as well as of their ships and weapons, have become a visual staple of the series. Although franchise handler 343 Industries moved away from the Covenant in Halo 4 by introducing a new threat in the Forerunners, the Covenant still maintain a sizable presence in the franchise.

One Halo fan showcased what it would look like if the Covenant were to invade New York City. Reddit user MarcoASN2002 posted a series of 3D model images depicting several types of Covenant ships measured to scale above Manhattan and its surrounding boroughs. One image showed two smaller Halo Covenant ships, SDV-Class Heavy Corvettes, hovering over the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Another sent four CRS-Class Light Cruisers and two CRS-Class Battlecruisers loom over Central Park.

Some of the larger Covenant ships include a pair of 5,300-meter-long CAS-Class Assault Carriers from Halo 3 that blanket the southern tip of Manhattan and part of Brooklyn. By far the biggest ship of Marco’s post is the Long Night of Solace from Halo: Reach, a 29,000 meter CSO-Class Supercarrier that spans the entire length of Manhattan, the Bronx, and much of Brooklyn, dwarfing the entire city. A profile shot of the carrier above the NYC skyline is stunning, and the final image in Marco’s post shows what all the ships would look like approaching head-on over the city. It’s safe to say things would look quite dire if the Covenant ever decided to show up over New York City.

It would be interesting to see what some other major ships from the Halo universe, like the UNSC Infinity or the Dicact’s Mantle’s Approach from Halo 4, would look like over New York, or even Tokyo, Japan, the largest city on Earth by area. Sadly, with the cancelation of the Halo TV series, fans of the franchise don’t have much to look forward to at the moment, aside from continual live service updates to Halo Infinite. With Halo’s 25th anniversary on the way in 2026, perhaps Xbox and 343 Industries have something new in store for fans at some point over the next two years.
