Lethal Company has taken the horror genre by storm with its unique gameplay and terrifying monsters, creating a great co-op experience. The game allows up to four players in a lobby, aiming to extract various scrap pieces from dark and ominous abandoned facilities on differing moons. The objective is to collect scrap pieces without encountering monsters or dying in the terrain. Players have to reach a certain amount of money from the collected scrap pieces by the end of the third day to move on to do more scavenging. Players are sent into space if the quota is not reached after three days, ending the game.

The more scrap pieces collected and sold, the more players can scavenge, with select items available to purchase to aid progression. In the game, various items have different prices and functions, some being better than others due to their usefulness when in the facilities.

7 Teleporter

Recovery Machine

Teleporter in Lethal Company

Although coming with a steep price, Teleporters in Lethal Company allows players to recover a team member from the field of action. If a player is back on the ship, they can hit a teleport button that retrieves a selected player, bringing them back to the ship even if they are in the facility. The item can rescue players from monsters if used at the correct time, providing adequate support.

Teleporters do come with baggage, with the item not allowing teleported players to bring back any items or scrap pieces being carried, effectively losing all loot and money spent.

6 Loud Horn

Safety Signal

The Loud Horn is an item adept at providing support and direction for players, with the loud noise providing guidance for lost souls. The Loud Horn is located within the ship, with its function being that once pulled, a Loud Horn sound plays everywhere outside the facility. Players who have returned to the ship early can effectively communicate to fellow players that they are safe, leading to players knowing it is acceptable to retreat.

Although helpful in communicating with friends, the Loud Horn can alert monsters outside the facility to the ship, leading to even more danger.

5 Zap Gun

Effective Defensive And Offensive Tool

Despite being the third most expensive item in the game, the Zap Gun provides adequate defense and offense when encountering monsters. The Zap Gun zaps most monsters from close range, stunning foes and rendering them vulnerable.

A player can deal with monsters such as spiders and bugs by using the Zap Gun on the target. While this occurs, another player can use a shovel to hit the monster until it has been killed. This effective combination can be used to defeat monsters, leading to scavenging facilities being much more straightforward.

4 Shovel

Deadly Weapon

Shovel in Lethal Company

The Shovel is one of the few offensive items available in the game, with it being able to take down monsters if used correctly. Shovels are essential in trying to survive within the survival horror genre, with the melee weapon providing protection and deadly damage in certain circumstances. Shovels are effective against most monsters, although some, such as Coil-head, take no damage or are not affected by getting struck by the item.

Shovels are best used when in the company of someone using the Zap Gun, with the Zap Gun being able to stun monsters, allowing for several hits with the shovel, which can kill them.

3 Walkie-Talkie

Communication In Isolation

Walkie-talkie in Lethal Company

As with several Steam horror games, Walkie-talkies are used as an item to communicate with fellow players when out of proximity. With the Walkie-talkies being the cheapest item in the game, their use becomes almost forced on the player due to their effectiveness within the facilities. As players are often forced to split up to try and find loot, using Walkie-talkies can provide information on whereabouts, locations of scrap pieces, strategy, and where monsters may be lurking.

If a player with the item is under duress, they can alert friends to leave the facility to ensure their survival, making the item highly important.

2 Flashlight

Cheap And Reliable

Flashlight in Lethal Company

In horror, flashlights have become an essential piece of iconography to symbolize individuals’ isolation in dark settings. As is typical for first-person horror games, flashlights provide a source of hope for players, with light being all they can cling to in hopes of surviving.

In the game, the flashlight gives adequate support to players, as light inside the facilities is much needed. Flashlights alert players to scrap pieces, bodies, monsters, and pathways. A flashlight is essential for success in a challenging game like Lethal Company.

1 Pro-Flashlight

Extended Battery Life And Affordable

Pro-flashlight in Lethal Company

The Pro-flashlight is a highly effective and valuable item in Lethal Company due to its long-lasting battery life compared to the original flashlight. The Pro-flashlight lasts nearly seven hours, almost two more than the regular flashlight. As is typical with all horror games, lighting has become a fundamental necessity, as often, horror games take place in the dark.

With light being such a fundamental requirement, a longer battery life is crucial in the game, as much of the scavenging occurs in extreme darkness. This makes getting a Pro-flashlight to identify scrap pieces, pathways, and monsters all the more critical.
