Life by You‘s early access launch has been delayed again, publisher Paradox Interactive has announced. The upcoming title, which could rival the next entry in Electronic Arts’ beloved The Sims franchise, was supposed to become publicly available in early June.

The debut project of the California-based Paradox Tectonic, Life by You has been marketed as a life simulator that will let players take complete control of the characters they create. After its early access release was delayed twice, the game was finally set to become playable on June 4. Publisher Paradox Interactive, however, has just announced that Life by You‘s launch has been postponed again.

Life By You’s Open-World Features Explained

Paradox Interactive’s Life By You will have a massive open-world to explore, with some of the most ambitious features of any open-world title to date.

In a recent statement, Paradox Interactive Deputy CEO Mattias Lilja explained that the early access release of the feature-rich Life by You has been delayed once more as the game needs more development time. The company has not committed to providing a new release window because it does not want to give out a date that it might not be able to meet, Lilja added. Those who pre-ordered Life by You on the Epic Games Store will receive refunds, according to a FAQ for the game.

This is not the first time Paradox Interactive acknowledged that its upcoming life simulator would benefit from receiving more polish before being released. When Life by You was postponed for the second time in March, Paradox Tectonic General Manager Rod Humble said that the move would give his team extra time to make an early access launch smoother and more fun. Humble was the former label head of The Sims, which is getting a new installment in the form of the already controversial Project Rene, also referred to as The Sims 5.

Life by You Vs. The Sims 5

Project Rene is set to introduce fundamental evolutions with how players create and customize their worlds, Electronic Arts claimed back when the project was publicly unveiled in late 2022. Developer Maxis has confirmed that The Sims 5 will have multiplayer, a first in the franchise, but the studio noted that its game would not play like an MMO.

Life by You differs a lot from The Sims, but Paradox Interactive’s upcoming game could become a big competitor to Electronic Arts’ beloved life simulation series. The former will have an open world, a feature that has still not been confirmed to be in Project Rene. Life by You also promises to provide players with deeper control over their characters, among other things.
