Based on the now cult-classic novel of the same name by Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro 2033 Redux is the graphically remastered edition of the original Metro 2033 from 2010. These days, the original version is all but obsolete, so Metro 2033 Redux is the ideal entry point into the series for new players. The story follows Artyom as he tries to save the inhabitants of the Moscow Metro and survive in a post-nuclear hellscape filled with danger and mystery.

Metro: Every Game In The Series, Ranked
The Metro game series doesn’t have many weak links, but a few games stand out above the rest.
For anyone looking to enjoy an immersive stealth shooter who doesn’t also mind a sprinkle of horror, Metro 2033 Redux is a great game to try out and is arguably one of the defining games of its era. Unlike Metro Exodus and its larger open world, Metro 2033 is a more linear game and has a large focus on story and events rather than player choice. With that said, it does feature multiple endings, and there are several ways to tackle each chapter of the game ,depending on your chosen playstyle.
How Long Does It Take To Complete Metro 2033 Redux?
To complete the main story, a playthrough of Metro 2033 Redux can take around five to seven hours. This will be enough time to complete the main story and not miss out on anything essential. There are no side missions or optional content in the game either — though there are some collectibles for players to look out for if they are trying to achieve a 100% completionist playthrough with all achievements. For players looking to finish the game on Ranger difficulty, or without killing anyone (which is also possible) and earning all possible achievements, a 100% completionist playthrough can take up to nine hours to finish in its entirety.
Despite its age, even the original Metro 2033 still holds up well today and can be played without too much jank or dated visuals. The Redux edition certainly offers improvements in many aspects, though ultimately, the story and objectives remain unchanged. The Metro series is still very much alive today, with the most recent game, Metro Awakening, releasing on VR.
