  • Adding a sweep attack to Minecraft Sword combat could be a game-changer, which is something a Bedrock player recently suggested online. It would help with battling multiple enemies at once.
  • The addition of new combat elements like the Trident and Mace show that Mojang is open to shaking up gameplay in Minecraft. However, to keep it from being overpowered, a sweep attack may require a noticeable cooldown.
  • While some players are eager for an official sweep attack feature, there is no guarantee that Mojang will introduce it in future updates.

A Minecraft Bedrock player has proposed an interesting suggestion of adding a sweeping attack to the game’s Sword combats. Mojang continues to update Minecraft with new features, blocks, and more, and with additions like the mace, it’s clear that combat changes are not off limits – even if they are quite uncommon.

Although Mojang consistently patches Minecraft, the combat hasn’t changed much over the years. The Trident is one example of a big addition, as it has been added post-launch, and it’s unique in that players can wield it as a melee weapon or throw it for ranged damage instead. Additionally, the option to block with weapons has disappeared, making Shields key equipment for anyone looking to protect themselves from enemy damage. Finally, the latest combat update included the Mace, which can be crafted from materials obtained in Minecraft‘s Trial Chambers. Now, one gamer has an interesting idea of revamping Sword combat by giving the item a sweep attack option.

Minecraft Player Creates Every European Country’s Tallest Building in the Game

A Minecraft player creates impressive replicas of some of the tallest buildings in Europe, revealing what they would look like in the blocky game.

Reddit user Infinite_wicked recently shared a clip in which they’re attacking Skeletons spawning in a farm. The farm contains dozens of Skeletons in a very small space, with the player killing each of them with one swing of their Enchanted Iron Sword. As the mobs drop like flies, loot and experience orbs litter the area before the loot is funneled into a nearby chest with a Minecraft Hopper. The funneled items include Arrows, Bones, Bows, and Gold, Iron, and Leather armor. With how long it took for this player to defeat the Skeleton farm army, though, they suggested that Minecraft should add a sweeping attack that could kill multiple enemies at the same time.

Could a Minecraft Sweep Attack Be Overpowered?

Although many gamers considered the Sword sweep idea a good one, others highlighted how overpowered it might be. One Minecraft player offered a solution to the potentially overpowered secondary attack by suggesting that Mojang could add a cooldown to it. There are already cooldowns for attacks, the Minecraft Ender Pearl teleport, Elytra flying, and Potions, ensuring that one for sweeping wouldn’t feel out of place. Beyond a secondary attack option for swords, there could also be a new enchantment added to the game that changes the primary one. There could also be a new weapon added in the future that would allow players to defeat multiple enemies at the same time, preventing Mojang from having to significantly change Swords.

While modders can create sweep attacks of their own, it’s clear that some Bedrock players would like to see Mojang introduce an official version of such a feature. Mojang continues to update Minecraft, which could potentially result in a sweep attack being added in the future, though for now it is purely a fan request and there is no indication that such an update will happen.
