Several new online features, such as online lobbies and online practice, may be added to Mortal Kombat 1 soon, according to a recent datamine. While Mortal Kombat 1 came out to mostly positive reviews, many fans wanted more from its online play modes. With competitive modern games giving extra attention and focus to the online aspect nowadays, it was surprising to see Mortal Kombat’s latest iteration not include features present in the previous entries.
While Mortal Kombat 1 does have online play, it comes in a limited capacity. There is no easy way to send a match invite to random players. Similarly, online practice options were also not present, which had many fans wondering why it was not included. While no news about their confirmation has been released, one trusted source of Mortal Kombat 1 leaks has uncovered evidence that suggests that new online features will be introduced in the coming months.
What to Expect From Mortal Kombat 1 in 2024
Mortal Kombat 1 has made a pretty big splash in the fighting game community this year and it looks like it’s set to continue its hot streak into 2024.
Twitter user thethiny, who is known for correctly leaking information regarding Mortal Kombat 1, has found information that points to the introduction of Online Lobbies once the Peacemaker DLC arrives sometime in February 2024. Other screenshots shared by thethiny also contain evidence that an online practice mode will come soon. However, it was not stated whether both the lobbies and the practice mode would arrive at the same time. Still, this is great news, as the developers are considering the proposed improvements for online play.
Rumored Additions for Mortal Kombat 1’s Online Mode
- Online lobbies
- Online practice
It was previously reported that Mortal Kombat 1‘s crossplay feature will be debuting in February 2024, which means it goes in line with these recent leaks regarding online improvements. While no official confirmation has been made regarding the other rumored modes, it’s possible that these will go live within that month if the data is to be believed. Granted, it was previously reported that crossplay won’t make the Switch, so it’s still up in the air whether the leak could apply to that version as well.
While the game has a plethora of content still planned to come out, including Kombat Pack 1’s other content, many rumors still abound. Adding to the leaked online modes, many fans have been digging deep regarding the possibility of Mortal Kombat 1‘s Kombat Pack 2. There are also rumors of an extended story mode akin to Mortal Kombat 11‘s Aftermath DLC. NetherRealm Studios looks to be trying to keep the fan base happy and satisfied with planned content that could keep the game alive for as long as it can. The team has been known to regularly update and keep many of its titles active, including Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat 11, among others. Hopefully, Mortal Kombat 1 gets to enjoy the previously mentioned games’ success.
