Players can become entirely self-sufficient when it comes to making food in My Time at Sandrock once they get the right tools up and running.

Cooking food is one of life’s simplest pleasures, and the same can be said in My Time at Sandrock. This cozy life sim offers a whole host of cooking recipes for players to discover, and every meal has the potential to boost a player’s stats or replenish HP/stamina.

While building is the primary focus in My Time at Sandrock, players can still play the role of a gourmet chef if they so desire. However, there are a few hurdles that must be overcome before players reach that point. This guide shows how to get started with cooking in this game, as well as a few of the most useful recipes everyone should know.

How to Cook in My Time at Sandrock

First, players need to unlock the diagram for a cooking station at Qi’s Research Center. The most basic one is the Drying Rack, which is only meant to produce jerky as well as dried fish and fruit. To get into the actual cooking, players need to unlock the Apprentice’s Cooking Station. Those who are out of Data Discs will need to scavenge for some in abandoned ruins like the one near Eufaula Salvage.

The actual act of cooking is fairly simple:

  1. Select a main ingredient.
  2. Pick additional ingredients.
  3. Choose a cooking tool (Wok, Cooking Pot, Steamer, etc).
  4. Click the Confirm button.

The first two steps are where recipes come in. Players need to use the right ingredients in order to make an actual meal. If they use the wrong combination of foodstuff, they’ll get Food Scraps instead. Players can guess a recipe by using random food items, or they can improve their relationships with the people of Sandrock in hopes of getting recipes from them.
