Some new evidence pointing to the existence of a Nintendo Switch version of MySims has emerged online. This turn of events further strengthens the possibility of the classic Wii game making a comeback in the near future.

MySims is a Sims spin-off that was originally released for the Wii and 3DS in September 2007. Just ahead of its 14th anniversary, several retailers published listings for the Switch version of the game in late August 2024.

The MySims series used to be a Nintendo mainstay, but it seems like EA has put the series on an indefinite hold since 2010’s MySims: Skyheroes.

MySims Switch Version Appears on EA’s Website

Shortly following this MySims Switch port leak, another reference to the unannounced game was spotted on Electronic Arts’ official website. The listing was unearthed by Reddit user Jvvjarj, who found it while browsing EA’s Switch catalog page, where MySims can be found at the very bottom, right next to the 2018 platformer Fe. The thumbnail used for the game matches its original cover artwork from 2007.

While the rest of the listings on this site contain links to their respective games’ official websites, the MySims entry simply redirects users to the Sims 4 pages. Likewise, although the other entries are listed alongside their dedicated support pages, the MySims one only contains a link to the EA Help portal homepage. Game Rant was unable to locate any cached mirrors of the website that would help narrow down when exactly this prematurely published entry went live. The previously leaked retailer listings have both suggested that MySims will get a physical release on the Nintendo Switch, in addition to launching via the eShop. They also attached a €49.99 price tag to the unannounced game, which will presumably translate to $49.99 stateside.

If MySims is indeed poised for a comeback on Nintendo’s hybrid console, its release is bound to expand the already vast selection of high-quality life simulation games on the Switch. Yet this particular title still wouldn’t really scratch The Sims itch on the Switch, as it’s significantly different compared to the mainline series entries; rather than focusing on managing characters’ needs, wants, and aspirations, the game plays much more like an Animal Crossing title, as it focuses on decoration, relaxation, and fulfilling simple neighbor requests. Its chibi characters and heavily stylized visuals even make it resemble an Animal Crossing game.

Who exactly might be in charge of the MySims Switch version is currently unclear. The original game was developed by EA Redwood Shores, later known as Visceral Games, which has been defunct since October 2017. But the MySims Nintendo DS port was made by the game development outsourcing powerhouse Tose Software, a Japanese company that is still keeping busy as of 2024.
