Once Human features a detailed crafting system that allows players to create a wide range of items, from basic tools to powerful weapons and armor. As you unlock new crafting recipes, you’ll need to collect more advanced materials to create them. One such material is Engineering Plastic, which is designed to withstand harsh environments.
Engineering Plastic is essential for crafting higher-tier (Tier V) weapons and armor. It’s a stronger material compared to other plastics found in the game. Since you’ll need plenty of Engineering Plastic, this guide covers all the possible ways to get it.

How to Get Engineering Plastic
Like most other plastics in Once Human, Engineering Plastic is obtained by exploring the wild and disassembling scrap pieces. Many items, such as electronic devices, machinery parts, and specific pieces of equipment can be broken down to yield Engineering Plastic.
The best place to find scrap items that drop Engineering Plastic is the Chalk Peak region. While it’s advisable to be at least Level 32 before exploring Chalk Peak, you can go there any time. To maximize your Engineering Plastic yield, focus on looting these zones with Chalk Peak:
- Tall Grass Inn
- Holt Town
- Furnace Lair
- Greenlake Hill
In these areas, you’ll find rows of houses that contain storage crates that drop items rich in Engineering Plastic. Search inside all the buildings, loot storage crates, and pick up any items you find. You can also kill enemies and collect their loot as well.
Examples of scrap that can be dismantled for Engineering Plastic
- Bearings
- Detectors
- Microscopes
- External Hard Drives
- Searchlights
- Military Protective Gear
- Old Military Helmets
Once you’ve collected enough loot, head back to your base and dismantle all these items using the Disassembly Bench. Select all of the items and hold down your Fkey to disassemble your scrap and get a bunch of Engineering Plastic.
Apart from these ways, you can also get Engineering Plastic as a reward for completing objectives in the Furnace Lair (Level 32) and Rotten Saddle (Level 35).
While exploring level 30-40 areas, always keep an eye on Trash Bins, as they sometimes also contain Engineering Plastic.
How to Use Engineering Plastic
As mentioned above, Engineering Plastic is needed to craft Tier V tools, weapons, and armor. It is an essential component of the Tungsten Alloy Pickaxe, which is the only pickaxe that can mine gold.
Besides this, Engineering Plastic is a key material required to craft the Advanced Supplies Workbench. This is the final version of the supplies bench and lets you craft more advanced gear and consumables. You’ll need 20x Engineering Plastic to craft it.
