Once Human: How To Repair Equipment

As you fight through the hordes of men and monsters in Once Human, your weapons and armor will eventually wear down and break. Thankfully, repairing gear in this game is pretty easy, though there are a few things you should know about it.

Making guns in Once Human is one thing, but maintaining them is a different story. Repair mechanics here are pretty simple as far as survival games go, but it isn’t quite as forgiving as some other popular titles on the market. If you’re not sure what to do when your equipment starts breaking down, here’s a quick guide to help you out.

How To Repair Weapons And Armor In Once Human

To fix your deteriorating gear, you’ll need to go to a Gear Workbench. You should already have one in your base by now, but if you don’t, you’ll need the following:

• 30 Copper Ingots
• 10 Metal Scraps
• 10 Shabby Fabric
• 5 Adhesive

If you’re in a Monolith, you can repair your equipment in the Gear Workbench in one of the maintenance rooms right before the boss. All Monoliths have such rooms, and there’s a chance you might find a Gear Workbench in other POIs as well.

From the Gear Workbench menu, select the Repair tab on the list of menus above. Here, you can select the items you want to fix. There’s an icon above the list of equipment that’ll let you switch between your available guns and armor.

Pick the item you want to repair to check the costs required to fix them. Double-check if you can afford the repair costs, then hold F to finish the process. Repair costs usually include the same types of material needed to craft the item in question, so make sure to stock up on resources like Iron in Once Human when you reach Steel-tier and above.

Now, there are a few caveats to repairing items in this game. First, you cannot repair items that you do not own. Specifically, this means that you can’t fix any of the gear you randomly loot from the world. With that said, it’s best not to get too attached to any shiny weapon you pick up. Use them until they break, then just make a new one once you return home.

Second, you can’t repair pickaxes. When they break, they’re gone for good, so it’s best to keep multiple copies in your inventory to save at all times. Once you reach the Bronze tier of tools and above, consider selling your worn-out pickaxes instead for a hefty sum of Energy Links.
