Between both the base game and the Phantom Liberty expansion, Cyberpunk 2077 has no shortage of compelling characters. Without even taking Cyberpunk 2077‘s protagonist V into consideration, the ensemble cast of the game does a fair amount of heavy lifting when it comes to the title’s emotional impact and immersion. In true CD Projekt RED fashion, Cyberpunk 2077‘s side characters are all three-dimensional personalities with believable writing behind them, feeling like they’re real people whose lives continue even when the player isn’t around. One character who is a standout of Cyberpunk 2077, and absolutely deserves more time in the spotlight in the upcoming sequel, is Misty.
Initially introduced in the early parts of Cyberpunk 2077 as Jackie’s girlfriend and the upstairs neighbor to the friendly neighborhood Ripperdoc Viktor Vektor, Misty’s place in the trajectory of V’s story is somewhat of an afterthought despite her importance in Cyberpunk 2077‘s endings. It’s not until after the Konpeki Plaza heist that players finally get a glimpse at the true Misty, learning about her connection to all things esoteric through shared memories of Jackie and the “Fool on the Hill” quest. One of the better conclusions to Cyberpunk 2077‘s Phantom Liberty expansion sets the stage for Misty to take on a greater role in the sequel as a character worthy of further exploration.

How Phantom Liberty’s ‘Tower’ Ending Sets Up a Greater Role for Misty
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077 and the Phantom Liberty expansion
Depending on V’s choices during the main quest of Cyberpunk 2077, players have several different endings that they can unlock. Most of these boil down to choosing certain dialogue options in conversations or making sure that certain characters survive during later missions, but the Phantom Liberty expansion adds a brand-new ending that is arguably Cyberpunk 2077‘s most positive outcome. In The Tower ending, V unintentionally has a peaceful life thrust upon them thanks to a 2-year coma resulting from the removal of the Relic. While they’re no longer capable of being Night City’s hottest up-and-coming merc, they get a second chance at life.
And, like the other major endings in Cyberpunk 2077, Misty plays an important role when players choose The Tower ending. While the other endings to Cyberpunk 2077 feature Misty giving V a Tarot reading that uncovers their fate either inside or outside of Night City, The Tower ending plays out a bit differently. V returns to Night City after their 2-year coma, and it’s none other than Misty who fills them in on everything that’s happened in their absence. Potentially, this could be a setup for Misty to be a person of great importance in Cyberpunk‘s sequel “Project Orion”.
Misty’s Knowledge of Night City’s Inner Workings Could Make Her a Central Figure in a Sequel
While Misty does remark in The Tower ending that she’s planning on moving to Poland and living as a member of a nature preserve, it’s important to keep in mind Night City is never all that willing to let people leave and, in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, even the best-laid plans can fall apart. Additionally, for Misty to have so much intimate knowledge of Night City’s underworld and its inner workings, enough to give V all the details regarding what they missed while they were comatose, she clearly has an innate ability to keep her ear to the ground and stay in the know. In that sense, Misty could end up being Night City’s next great Fixer.
Even if Misty isn’t introduced right from the outset of Project Orion as a main character, her inclusion in the game as a major player at least partway through the game’s story would be a welcome surprise. Not only that, it could position the character as the connective tissue between the narrative of Cyberpunk 2077 and that of its sequel. At the very least, Misty’s importance as one of the emotional linchpins of V’s story makes her a character worthy of further exploration.
