The award-winning indie game Stray is finally getting a DLC. Players have been clamoring for a sequel since the game’s debut, but BlueTwelve Studios and Annapurna Interactive have mostly kept quiet about Stray, aside from the upcoming animated movie.

Stray was released in 2022 on PS5 to critical acclaim. The game puts players in the shoes – or paws – of a cat who falls into the underbelly of a post-apocalyptic, neon-lit world full of robots, machines, and creepy mutant bacteria. Stray‘s cat protagonist is on a mission to return to the surface with the help of a drone companion, B-12.

Nearly two years after its initial release, Stray has announced an upcoming free DLC with the promise of a trailer debuting on June 10 in a since-deleted Instagram post. Stray also plans to hold a charity event to benefit stray cats worldwide while rewarding participating players. So far, Stray has not announced a date for the DLC’s release.

Stray Plans to Reward Players and Stray Cats

Stray’s social media promoting the DLC and fan event said it will release a special coin on the Solana Network, an independent blockchain platform. After the trailer debuts, Stray said it will give its players who purchase the token an in-game prize, while a few lucky players will receive special prizes. Once the prize pool has been claimed, all profits will go to Stray’s partnered stray cat rescue groups. “Players will receive prizes while making an impact on the world around them,” Stray said.
