Specifically, he was the main antagonist of the Wano Country arc, where Luffy finally took him down in combat. Despite having lost his final battle, Kaido remains to be one of One Piece’s strongest characters, and the many battles that he fought and won over the course of his life are proof of that.

9 Killer

Defeated Twice By Kaido

Killer is a member of the Worst Generation and the Vice Captain of the Kid Pirates. He’s quite an exceptional pirate, being famed across the New World as the Massacre Soldier. Killer fought against Kaido on two occasions and, both times, he ended up losing the battle. The first time Killer fought Kaido was alongside Kid. Both of them ended up losing the battle.

The second time was on the rooftop of Onigashima. Once again, Killer faced the wrath of Kaido and Big Mom together and wasn’t able to make a dent. He was knocked out temporarily in this battle, however, later on, he got back up.

8 Gecko Moria

Defeated By Kaido In Ringo, Wano

Gecko Moria is quite an interesting character and one that fans heavily underestimate. While Moria might be considered weak by many, based on his showing in the Thriller Bark arc, it must be kept in mind that Moria, the captain of the Thriller Bark Pirates, was far from his prime at this point.

During his younger years, Moria is said to have fought Kaido toe to toe in the land of Wano. This battle was spread all across the New World and Moria made a great name for himself. Unfortunately, after he lost his crew, Moria lost his willpower and got weaker. He is certainly one of the strongest characters that Kaido fought and defeated.

7 Ashura Doji and Denjiro

Defeated By Kaido in Kuri, Wano

One of the Samurai of the Wano Country, Ashura Doji was quite a skilled fighter and one that Kaido crushed after the death of Oden.

Ashura combined his strength with Denjiro but, despite that, these two are not able to put even a single scratch on Kaido.

6 The Nine Red Scabbards

Defeated By Kaido on the Rooftop of Onigashima

The Nine Red Scabbards ended up fighting against Kaido together in the Wano Country Arc on the rooftop of Onigashima. Despite them throwing everything that they had at the Yonko, they were not able to defeat him in combat.

They did inflict some injuries on Kaido and even made him bleed, however, the damage they did was not deep enough. In the end, Kaido crushed every single one of them.

5 Eustass Kid

Defeated By Kaido Twice

Eustass Kid is the captain of the Kid Pirates and a member of the Worst Generation. He faced Kaido on two occasions and wasn’t able to leave a mark on either occasion. The first battle he fought against Kaido was lost terribly.

He ended up being imprisoned in Wano. In the second battle, he took quite a beating, however, did not exactly lose. He succeeded in splitting Big Mom from Kaido and later took her on in combat.

4 Trafalgar Law

Defeated By Kaido On Onigashima Rooftop

Trafalgar Law is yet another character that Kaido crushed in Wano. This particular character fought Kaido on the rooftop of Onigashima.

Although Law did manage to inflict some damage on Kaido, in the end, Kaido took him down with a Thunder Bagua. Law managed to stay conscious after this attack, however, at that point, the battle was already lost.

3 Roronoa Zoro

Defeated By Kaido On Onigashima Rooftop

The swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, Zoro is quite a powerful character and yet another individual who fell victim to Kaido in the Wano arc. Zoro fought against Kaido on the rooftop of Wano and did quite well.

He even managed to pierce his scales on many occasions and, unbeknownst to him, even managed to scar Kaido. However, despite managing to pull off such an amazing feat, Zoro was completely defeated by Kaido with a single powerful Thunder Bagua, which completely knocked him out.

2 Monkey D. Luffy

Drafted By Kaido Thrice

Luffy, the protagonist of the series, fought against Kaido multiple times. Despite Luffy being quite strong himself, he ended up losing the fight against Kaido on three different occasions.

In the end, if he did succeed in defeating, however, he lost three rounds of the fight against the emperor, which just goes to show that Kaido was a difficult wall to scale. The version of Luffy that Kaido beat was certainly not the strongest character he defeated.

1 Kozuki Oden

Defeated By Kaido in Udon, Wano

By far, the strongest character that Kaido defeated in his life was Oden, the legendary Samurai of Wano. Oden and Kaido fought a terrific battle in Udon.

This battle was single-handedly being carried by Oden and it is quite clear in the story that he could very well have won this clash. However, due to a distraction, Kaido ended up striking a fatal blow and defeated Oden in the process.
