Warning: The following contains spoilers for One Piece Episode 1087, “The War on the Island of Women! A Case Involving Koby the Hero” now streaming on Crunchyroll.
One Piece dropped an incredible episode that covered the exhilarating three-way battle between the Marines, the Kuja Pirates, and the Blackbeard Pirates. After the abolition of the Shichibukai system, all the members were now ordinary pirates with no special privileges.
So the Marines could finally start hunting down these pirates and lock them up inside Impel Down. Buggy, Crocodile, and Mihawk had already formed a new organization together, which deterred the Marines from a full-scale war with them. However, not every Shichibukai was able to form an alliance. Boa Hancock was also without any allies that would protect her from the Marines.

Episode 1087 Recap
In One Piece Episode 1087, the Marines finally reached Amazon Lily and began attacking the pirates. Koby was one of the more notable Marines on the island, but he had no chance of capturing the famous Pirate Empress. However, the Marines weren’t without backup. They had brought the Seraphim with them to test out their power.
The Seraphim seem to be modeled after the younger versions of the Shichibukai. One of them looked like Dracule Mihawk, while the other resembled Boa Hancock. Nobody was expecting the Seraphim to be armed with a plethora of dangerous abilities. A single slash from S-Hawk’s sword was powerful enough to cut through the mountains in Amazon Lily. Needless to say, the Seraphim are extremely dangerous, and they significantly increase the strength of the Marines. If they are allowed to go all out in a fight, there is no telling what they might do to the island. It will be interesting to see if the Seraphim have any other abilities that they can utilize in battle.
The Kuja Pirates were struggling, and things got worse for them when the Blackbeard Pirates showed up. The Blackbeard Pirates are not known for doing anything unnecessarily, so it was surprising to see them turn up at Amazon Lily. After a while, it was revealed that Blackbeard wanted to get a hold of Hancock’s Devil Fruit, but he was aware that it wasn’t going to be easy. His crew members engaged Hancock, but they were almost instantly turned into stone by the power of the Mero Mero no Mi.
Toward the end of the episode, Koby is about to be taken out by Hancock, but Blackbeard uses Black Vortex to capture her. The Yonko was only interested in stealing Hancock’s Devil Fruit, which is hardly surprising given the ridiculous powers that it grants. Blackbeard currently holds the edge, and his next move could drastically affect the world. So all eyes will be on him.
Release Date
One Piece Episode 1088 will be released on December 17, 2023. It is titled “Luffy’s Dream.” From the looks of it, the episode will alternate between the events occurring in Amazon Lily and the Thousand Sunny. For a long time, people have believed that Luffy’s dream is to become the king of the pirates, but that is not all there is to it. Luffy has not revealed his true dream to his crew members, and it seems that they will learn about it in Episode 1088. It is unlikely that Oda will reveal the dream to the rest of the world, as it still might be too early for that.
One Piece Episode 1088 will also cover the conclusion of the battle between Hancock and Blackbeard. As it stands, the Yonko has the advantage, and Hancock is at his mercy. The only thing that might stop Blackbeard is that his crew members have been petrified. So, if he kills her, then his crew members will remain petrified forever, along with tons of Marines. It makes sense that someone may try to come to an understanding that will be beneficial to all the parties involved. Koby has shown that he can step up when things are not looking good. He may decide to test his luck by bargaining with Blackbeard.
From the preview of One Piece Episode 1088, it seems that Rayleigh might also be involved. He has been to Amazon Lily several times, so it is not out of the question for him to be there. Rayleigh’s words hold a lot of weight, and if he decides to threaten Blackbeard, it is possible that the latter might actually retreat and leave Amazon Lily for good. However, Blackbeard is cunning, and he won’t let all of his efforts go to waste. So, he might try to take something that will help him achieve his goal.
Where To Watch
