Highlights

  • Oda reveals intricate Devil Fruit designs in the latest One Piece Magazine, showcasing unique abilities like turning into blades or mimicking appearances.
  • Supa Supa no Mi design features banana-shaped fruits resembling blades, giving the user the power to turn their entire body into weapons.
  • Mane Mane no Mi allows users to copy physical appearances by touching faces, as shown by characters like Mr. 2 and Kurozumi Higurashi.

Almost every time there is a new One Piece magazine issue, Oda reveals more Devil Fruit designs. It is unfortunate that in the main story, fans could not see all the Devil Fruit designs and this is down to the fact that a lot of the Devil Fruit users consumed their powers long before even appearing in the story for the first time. This means that the number of Devil Fruit designs that Oda could reveal in his own story were very limited.

One Piece: The First Devil Fruit, Explained

The first devil fruit in One Piece could be one that fans are very familiar with already.

Thankfully, supplementary material, such as One Piece Magazine, sees to it that Oda has the opportunity to reveal many interesting details about his story, such as Devil Fruit designs, among much else. In the latest issue of the One Piece Magazine, Oda has revealed two more Devil Fruit designs, just like he did in the last issue, and this time around, the designs are spectacular, once again.

Oda’s Devil Fruit Design Of Supa Supa no Mi

Mr. 1’s Powerful Blade-Based Ability

The Supa Supa no Mi, also known as the Dice Dice Fruit, is an incredibly powerful Devil Fruit that belongs to the Paramecia class. This Devil Fruit’s design was revealed in the latest One Piece magazine. Given that Oda often incorporates the abilities of Devil Fruits into the design, fans were sure that this Devil Fruit design would have blades, if it were to ever be revealed. Now that it has been revealed, Oda has very well incorporated blades, but in a very unique manner. In fact, the fruit looks like bananas. There are three banana-shaped fruits in the Supa Supa no Mi, all of them blue. The bananas themselves are shaped like blades, and the blue color gives them a blade-like tint.

The part on top of these bananas has a darker shade of blue, which resembles the temper pattern of this powerful blade. There are also swirly patterns all over the Devil Fruit, which isn’t a surprise, given that all Devil Fruits have them. Overall, it can be said that this is a very innovative design and something that fans should expect in an incredible artist such as Oda. The blades showcase what fruit power one would gain by eating them, and of course, even if one doesn’t know the Devil Fruit, simply by looking at it, they would know that this fruit is somewhat related to blades. This is likely what happened with Mr. 1 as well when he ate this Devil Fruit and gained the power to slice and dice his enemies into bits.

The Powers Of The Supa Supa no Mi

The Ability To Turn One’s Body Into Blades

When it comes to the powers of the Supa Supa no Mi, fans know that this fruit is quite incredible. It belongs to the Paramecia class, as mentioned above, and this is quite evident just by looking at its powers. Essentially, this Devil Fruit allows the user to turn their body into blades. Any part of their body can be turned into a blade, which is the biggest advantage this fruit has to offer. Simply put, the whole body of the user becomes a weapon, and that is what makes it very dangerous. In the clash against Zoro, Mr. 1 was utterly dominant while using its powers. He could turn his hands into blades, and even use his legs as blades. His entire body was seemingly made out of steel, and this is precisely what makes this Devil Fruit as scary as it is.

I hate to disappoint you, but ever since I got the powers of the Dice Dice Fruit, no swordsman has ever made a scratch on me.

The biggest advantage of this fruit is that it isn’t restricted to just swords. The user can also turn their hands into dicers, or just about any other weapon with the blade that one can think of.

There are also other interesting abilities that this fruit offers. For instance, most cutting attacks simply do not work on the user, and this is because the body itself is made of steel. At the same time, the user also has a lot of versatility in terms of attacks. They can attack from a distance as well, just like flying slashes, and this makes them even more dangerous.

However, what needs to be kept in mind is that the user of the Supa Supa no Mi is always in danger when it comes to attacks that can cut through steel. For instance, once Zoro found out how to cut through steel, he was able to make quick work of Mr. 1, given that his body would simply be cut like normal flesh in this instance.

Oda’s Devil Fruit Design Of The Mane Mane no Mi

The Ability To Mimic Appearances

Another incredible Devil Fruit that Oda revealed in this issue of One Piece magazine is the Mane Mane no Mi. This Devil Fruit is also known as the Clone Clone Fruit. Fans have seen this power being utilized in many instances in One Piece. In fact, it is one of the few Devil Fruits that have had more than one user in the series. For the very first time, fans saw this Devil Fruit in the Alabasta Arc, where it was utilized by Mr. 2, also known as Bon Clay. The design of this Devil Fruit is somewhat interesting, however, not as good as the Supa Supa no Mi.

Essentially, the fruit looks like two identical pears on a single stem. This is quite interesting, because the pears essentially look identical to each other. So, as one can see, this implies that this fruit gives one the ability to duplicate appearances. Unlike the Supa Supa no Mi, anyone looking to eat this Devil Fruit wouldn’t exactly know what this fruit is or what it does just, by looking at it. It isn’t all that obvious and the user would only find out after they eat this Devil Fruit properly.

In terms of color, the Devil Fruit is somewhat golden brown, with lighter streaks running from top to bottom. There are also swirly patterns on the fruit, just as other Devil Fruits, and the stem curls up, as is the case with most Devil Fruits seen in One Piece.

The Powers Of The Mane Mane no Mi

The Mane Mane no Mi Lets One Copy Physical Appearances

While the design of the Mane Mane no Mi might not be the most interesting, the abilities of these Devil Fruit are certainly out of this world. Essentially, it lets the user take the appearance of someone else. All they need to do is make physical contact with that person’s face, and then touch their own face to take on their appearance. While the copying ability of this Devil Fruit is certainly incredible, there are some restrictions. For instance, in order to copy someone’s appearance, the user has to specifically use their right hand to touch their face. The user can only revert to their original face by touching their face with the left hand. Other than that, this fruit can be incredibly useful. In the Alabasta Arc, fans got to see how this fruit was used to incite violence and flame the civil war even more.

The Ability To Copy Appearances At Will, The Clone Clone Fruit!!

While it is currently being used by Mr. 2, formerly, this Devil Fruit was also wielded by Kurozumi Higurashi, who was an incredibly important character in the Wano arc. She used this Devil Fruit power on many occasions, specifically when Oden lost his battle to Kaido. Because of her interference, Kaido executed her, and this Devil Fruit returned to circulation, eventually finding its way to Mr. 2.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1117, is set to be June 17, 2024.
