While there are a lot of reasons to keep Pals alive and working on a base in Palworld — like defending against raids — players don’t have to just keep the Pals around just to have. In fact, the game offers a mechanic that allows them to get rid of the Pals and get something useful in return: butchering. This requires the use of the Meat Cleaver item and can be a great way for players to get more resources or even special loot. In fact, some of the game’s best weapons can be found with schematics and completely circumvent the need to level up a character to be able to build them.
While it’s not a guarantee, players can butcher Pals for the chance of obtaining Legendary Schematics for certain weapons. It’s also probably the most likely way to get those schematics. Just capturing a Pal can give you a chance of earning the schematic, but butchering the Pal after can double those odds. As such, here are the best Pals to butcher in the game.
5 Bushi
Schematic Drop: Crossbow
- Best early game weapon
- Bushi is easy to beat
When starting out in the game, players should find the Crossbow as soon as possible. Despite its rather slow reload time between firing bolts, the weapon offers great damage that will do a person a lot of good in the game’s overworld. Once obtained, it will surely be the go-to option for anyone who goes out hunting and is getting their base up and running.
Bushi itself is not much of a threat either, so it is easy to farm them for the schematic. It can be found in the Sacred Realm of the Swordmaster as a Level 23 Field Alpha Boss. This low level makes it a breeze to take down as long as the player brings the right Pals to fight it and some Pal Spheres to toss its way.
4 Beakon
Schematic Drop: Handgun
- Can get early on
- Great for fighting Pals until higher weapon unlocks
The Handgun looks really simple and unassuming in the game, but it actually offers way more usefulness than people may think. While it won’t give the same kind of damage output as the Assault Rifle or Rocket Launcher later on, it does enough damage to make it a great tool to use until those weapons are unlocked.
Getting this schematic involves finding Beakon, a bird Pal that can be found near the Deep Bamboo Thicket teleport point in the northeastern desert region of the map. It is a small Level 29 Field Alpha Boss, so it won’t take very much effort at all to beat it. Once players have felled the beast, they can take it back to their base and prep it for slaughter — which is much sadder than one would think.
3 Jetragon
Schematic Drop: Rocket Launcher
- Packs a good punch
- Takes a long time to unlock via leveling
The Rocket Launcher is at the tail-end of the leveling unlocks for a reason: it packs a wild punch when it connects with a target. This is why it could be a much easier method for players to simply find a Jetragon, capture it, and then butcher it to get the schematic.
The Pal can be found in the volcanic region of the map as a level 50 Field Alpha Boss. Now, level 50 is high, and it is nothing to scoff at. However, players can take this boss on much earlier than Level 50 if they have the right Pals, some teammates with them, and some good weaponry to bring down its health.
2 Suzaku
Schematic Drop: Pump-Action Shotgun
- Excellent damage output
- Suzaku can also be bred instead of fought
While the Assault Rifle may be the best weapon in the game, the Pump-Action Shotgun is no slouch either. It doesn’t have the range of some other weapons, but it makes up for it by putting out a big scattershot at a quick pace.
The Suzaku is found in the northeast desert region of the map for any player who wants to take the Pal on in a fight. It’ll take a good amount of firepower to whittle down its Level 45 health and at least a Legendary Pal Sphere to easily capture it. It may take some time, but with patience, the Pal will fall and can be taken back to base.
1 Blazamut
Schematic Drop: Assault Rifle
- Assault Rifle is the best weapon in the game
- Not too hard to find
Bringing an Assault Rifle to one of the boss fights in Palworld can be a true game-changer. It shreds through enemy health like no other weapon and has a fairly quick reload speed as well. Combined with the strongest Pals on your team, players have a recipe for success.
The Blazamut is a Level 49 Field Alpha Boss, so it won’t go down without a fight. It is found in the Scorching Mineshaft in the volcanic area of the game’s world. Bring plenty of strong Pals and Spheres to make sure this Pal goes down as easily as possible. Water Pals are always a great option for a Fire type like Blazamut.
