Being a monster-capturing game, Palworld has many different varieties of creatures, known as Pals, that players can either kill or tame. They all have unique designs and abilities, and their presence makes the islands they inhabit feel alive due to the constant threat they pose. Aside from the common types one can encounter, a few special Pals are known for being the best in combat and incredibly hard to defeat or capture. They are given the status of legendaries, and while they may be powerful, they could potentially experience a problem that Pokemon‘s own legendary monsters are currently having.




The legendary Pals of Palworld may share a few similar qualities to those of Pokemons, but one of the things that separates them is their quantity. The current number of legendary Pokemon is 81, a considerable figure compared to the 5 of Palwolrd. However, an issue can arise in a game filled with many powerful monsters, and that is the potential for type bias. Out of all the Pokemon legendaries, 16 belong to the Psychic type or at least have it as a secondary type, and 15 others in the same situation belong to the Dragon type. This shows a form of type favoritism, and it is something that Pocketpair has to make sure that it doesn’t do with its legendary Pals.

Why Palwolrd’s Legendary Pals Should Balance Out Its Element Types


When comparing Palworld‘s elements to Pokemon‘s types, the latter has many different types and its numbers surpass the former. The smaller number of types actually benefits Pocketpair’s creation, as it means fewer problems figuring out what’s weak or strong against what. This also means it’s easier to develop legendary Pals that fit into each element, ensuring one specific type does not dominate the group. As for the reasons why this is important, they are as follows:

  • Having element diversity means that each legendary Pal can be weak or strong against the other, making it feel balanced in terms of power.
  • More elements allow the developers to get creative with their designs, ensuring the new creations have unique looks and that they can stand out from each other.
  • It could potentially lead to the development of more special and exclusive abilities, allowing the legendary Pals to feel truly distinct from the rest.


Palworld‘s short list of elements does not mean it is safe from sharing the same type favoritism problem of Pokemon‘s legendaries. Pocketpair has to ensure that each new legendary Pal they create has an element that has yet to be covered, just so that the game can prevent the issue from happening.

Why Palworld’s Legendaries Must Be Elementally Diverse

Out of the five legendary Pals, two belong to the Dark variety. If, in the future, the developers decide to create more with Dark typing, it might lead players to believe that the element is the strongest among the rest. It could also result in some thinking that those weak against dark types are the worst Pals for combat or are at least inferior compared to them. This is a potential issue that the game should avoid at all costs, as it needs to show that every available element is viable. Having Palworld‘s strongest monsters come in different types is one of the best ways to tell players that anything can be used in combat, making it more essential that Pocketpair consider this when creating new legendaries.


Pocketpair has to ensure that the strongest and scariest Pals of Palworld cover the different elements, as doing so comes with many opportunities. Aside from helping the game avoid Pokemon‘s legendary typing bias, it allows for better content in the form of more unique-looking powerful monsters, better combat diversity, and more. So long as the developer avoids focusing on one element type when creating new legendaries, it should help steer Palworld in the right direction regarding balancing.
