This game made a lot of changes as a full-on remake and one of the biggest involves the battle system. Elemental weaknesses still play a huge role but players can now use a mechanic called Shift to switch spots with characters after exposing said weaknesses. There are also Final Fantasy-inspired Limit Break-like techniques called Theurgies in Persona 3 Reload.

6 Beginner Tips For Persona 3 Reload

Looking to start Persona 3 Reloaded for the first time? Here are a few key things to keep in mind.

With so much improvement in Persona 3 Reload, Atlus went ahead and made the boss battles more involved and thus more challenging too. There are a lot of mini-bosses but not so many proper bosses which is fine. Sometimes less is more, so let’s get to what bosses may give players a hard time in this proper ranking. There will be spoilers.

7 The Priestess

Going Off The Rails

The Priestess boss fight in Persona 3 Reload

The Priestess is the first major boss that players will encounter in Persona 3 Reload. The tricky part of her is a tricky mechanic in a lot of games because there is a time limit. Thirty minutes probably seems like more than enough time to take her down but through several intervals, The Priestess can speed up time.

If players fail to finish her off before thus, it is Game Over if that train crashes. It’s not a super hard boss if players watch themselves, but it can be stressful. Before going in, it’s best to be equipped with some of the best early gear in the game.

6 Emperor And Empress

Difficulty Through Change

The Emperor and Empress are the second set of Arcana bosses in the game. Fighting two bosses at the same time is always a difficult setup in an RPG. What makes these two hard is their unwillingness to stick to a weakness.

Players who are new to Persona 3 Reload often face these common stumbling blocks when venturing into Tartarus. Here’s what not to do.

Unlike most bosses in Persona 3 Reload, the Emperor and Empress have elemental weaknesses. However, they can switch their affinities, making it hard to predict what their new weaknesses and strengths are. Fuuka can help with the trial and error process but that will also drain her SP quickly.

5 Fortune And Strength

Spin The Wheel Or Die

Fortune And Strength boss fight in Persona 3 Reload

The Fortune and Strength fight is a hard one in Persona 3 Reload and it is the seventh set of Arcana bosses. Fortune is the main antagonist in this fight as it will directly attack players. On Strength’s turn, it will spin a roulette wheel that will affect all players on the board, even Fortune.

This can range from healing everyone to doing a wide area of damage to casting death-inducing magic. Strength cannot be eliminated until Fortune dies either, so every time Strength gets to act, it should induce anxiety as players will not know what they are going to get next. After Fortune does die, Strength will be a piece of cake.

4 Justice And Chariot

A Mighty Tank

There are a lot of parts to this boss that will annoy players. First, it is resistant to all attacks from psychical to elemental. Second, these two bosses are combined and get extra turns. Third, after they split up, players will have to worry about executing them simultaneously because if they don’t, one will revive the other.

Taking down the fifth set of Arcana, Justice, and Chariot, is not impossible though with the right magic. Persona 3 Reload characters like Yukari have “Break” spells that can negate damage to elemental attacks. In her case, Wind Break will allow wind magic to cut through enemy defenses. It’s best to cast debuffs like that on the tank before going to town.

3 The Hanged

Hooking Never Looked So Painful

The Hanged boss fight in Persona 3 Reload

The Hanged was set up to be the last boss in Persona 3 Reload. It was the last Arcana on the map and then the Dark Hour was going to disappear. It was a ruse even though this felt like a final battle with how strong The Hanged turned out to be.

The Hanged begins with three angelic statues guarding it which are relatively easy to deal with but it can summon more periodically. After that players can attack The Hanged directly but this beast hits hard and it can give itself A LOT of extra turns even if it doesn’t deal weakening blows. It’s a bit unfair and there is no real trick to beating it other than to stay on task with healing.

2 Nyx

The End All Be All

Nyx boss fight in Persona 3 Reload

Nyx is the true final boss of the game which is the Death Arcana incarnate. It’s a marathon, not a race because this boss has thirteen phases. It will go through twelve Major Arcana and every phase has a different set of skills, weaknesses, and immunities.

It’s another boss in Persona 3 Reload where Fuuka plays a key role in the victory process. Every phase gets stronger as well and then it all ends with the final, Death form which will be the true test. Dying and having to go through any of these phases again will be a pain so it’s best to go in properly leveled up.

1 Elizabeth

From Fish Out Of Water To A Secret Boss

Elizabeth boss fight in Persona 3 Reload

Typically the hardest boss in an RPG will be the final one. That’s not the case with Persona 3 Reload as players can fight Elizabeth. The boss fight is challenging but so is getting to the point where players can accept her proposal.

Elizabeth has a lot of involved quests and some are marked on the map while others will be a trial and error process unless one consults a guide. Side quest aside, the brutal part of this fight is that players will have to face her alone. She’s no pushover either as her knowledge of magic dates back centuries.
