Key Takeaways

  • A Pokemon fan artist gave Wooper and Quagsire cute Past Paradox makeovers, resembling salamanders with blue bodies and purple scales.
  • Paradox forms continue to be popular among fans, with previous unofficial versions for Pokemon like Wooper and Starmie.

A talented Pokemon fan has recently devised an amazing artwork imagining new past Paradox forms for Wooper and Quagsire. Ever since Paradox forms were introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the Pokemon community has devised several unofficial Paradox forms for iconic creatures, and this fan showcased one of the best recent works made using this concept.

Wooper and Quagsire are Water/Ground-type monsters that originally appeared in the second generation of Pokemon games. Inspired by a tadpole, Wooper evolves into Quagsire at level 20. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduced a Paldean variant for Wooper which has the Poison/Ground-type and evolves into Clodsire, but the Pokemon never received an official Paradox form.

Now, a Pokemon fan called MeeArt117 has devised past Paradox forms for Wooper and Quagsire, sharing them with the community on r/pokemon. One of the images shared by MeeArt117 depicts a large Paradox Quagsire called Apex Monarch in a lake with several small Paradox Woopers swimming around it, while the other two images show these critters in more detail. Both of these new creatures are Dragon/Water-type monsters that greatly resemble salamanders, and have long, blue bodies with white bellies and purple scales, being a very cute spin on these classic Pokemon.

Pokemon Fan Artist Imagines Past Paradox Forms For Quagsire and Wooper

This is not the first time that a fan decided to reimagine Wooper as a Paradox Pokemon. Last year, a fan designed a future Paradox form for Wooper, achieving a pretty distinct result from MeeArt117. This alternative take on Wooper was called Iron Signal and resembled a small robot with a wi-fi signal and an antenna on its head.

The original release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet was almost two years ago, but Paradox forms continue to be very popular in fan art. Earlier this month, for example, one fan created a future Paradox form for Starmie called Iron Shell. In this amazing piece, they depicted the starfish-inspired creature as a huge metal star with water and some crystal objects floating around it.

Another recent fan art depicting a Paradox form that became popular with the community recently was a past Paradox form for Rapidash. Named Waxen Pinions, this Ground/Flying-type monster was inspired by the legendary Greek Pegasus, and the design came with unique lore. According to its creator, Waxen Pinions had abilities that were strong against other Flying-types but was vulnerable to Fire damage due to the high amount of wax the Pokemon had covering its body.
