A Pokemon fan has created a number of impressive fusion designs. Pokemon fusions have been a popular trend among fans, as molding two or more Pokemon together can create some very interesting designs. Fusions have had some sort of presence in the mainline Pokemon games since Black and White, as the Legendary Pokemon Reshiram and Zekrom have the ability to fuse with Kyurem. These are the only Pokemon able to fuse officially, however, as every other fan fusion has been non-canon.

Pokemon fusions have become especially popular with fans of the series since the release of the fan game, Infinite Fusion. Infinite Fusion takes the DNA splicer item from Black and White and uses it to its full potential. Players can take any two Pokemon from the game and combine them together to make a unique fusion of the two creatures. Fans have been collaborating with the game to insert their own interpretations of what fusions between two Pokemon would look like. Pokemon fans have made all sorts of fusion designs, from combining Bounsweet and Vikavolt, to Zubat and Onix.

A talented Pokemon fan devises a new Mega Evolution for Forretress, imagining an alternative version for the Gen 2 Bug/Steel-type creature.

A user named HoundoomKaboom on Reddit uploaded 20 different fusions they designed to the site. Among them are combinations of popular Pokemon from the franchise, such as Gengar and Cosmog, Lugia and Shuckle, Lanturn and Xurkitree, Kantonian Ninetails and Alolan Marowak, and Blastoise and Aggron, just to name a few.

The Gengar and Cosmog fusion design includes a clever use of the body of Gengar. Gengar has his original shape mostly intact, but Cosmog’s colors and golden parts shine through. Another fusion designed by HoundoomKaboom includes the combination of Gardeviour and Celesteela. In the design, Cressellias body makes up most of the creature, with Gardeviour’s head and arms holding one of the large ligaments of Cressellia. Other Pokemon fans have made interesting fusions, which include a Mr. Mime and Gengar combination, lovingly named by the community as Mr. Gar.

The Pokemon series has barely scratched the surface of what fusions could be like in the mainline games. Some fans have suggested that fusions seem to be a logical step for Pokemon‘s next generation. Sword and Shield and Black and White have already experimented with combining Legendaries together. Sword and Shield introduced Calyrex, which can be combined with either Glastrier or Spectrier to make a powerful Legendary Pokemon, sharing both creature’s abilities. Black and White famously had each cover Pokemon, Zekrom and Reshiram, combine with Kyurem to create one of its forms. Perhaps the Pokemon Company will continue to explore fusions in future games.
