A Pokemon fan has made an unexpected combination of two Pokemon: Chandelure and Togekiss. The unique Pokemon fusion has gained attention from the community for its intricate design and aesthetic similarities to another game series altogether.

Pokemon fusions are a popular form of fanart in the series’ community. Pokemon fusion artists take two or more separate creatures from the series and mash them up into one cohesive form. Some Pokemon fusion art combines creatures that are already similar to one another, while others combine Pokemon that have completely clashing designs and typing. Two different artists may combine the same two Pokemon in completely different ways, so the creativity in Pokemon fusion art has almost no bounds.

Pokemon Fusions Turn Pikachu and Raichu into Flying and Fighting-Types

A Pokemon fan puts together three unique fusions that turn Pikachu into a Flying-type and Raichu into two unique Fighting-types.

Pokemon fan and artist Nainteins shared their fusion design that combines Togekiss with Chandelure. The creation is fascinating, with it maintaining most of Togekiss’ overall shape and silhouette, including its ovoid-shaped body, forehead spikes, and wings. However, its face qualities primarily take after Chandelure, with small yellow eyes. The Pokemon also has purplish-gray coloring overall and spooky purple flames like Chandelure. While the fusion has wings like Togekiss, the design has changed dramatically due to Chandelure’s influence, becoming almost filigree-like.

Several Pokemon fans have responded to the art with positivity. It seems the design is quite popular, with one fan comparing it to Frosmoth. A couple others saw similarities between the design and that of Hollow Knight, particularly with its eyes and mask-like face. This surprised the artist, and while they admitted that they’re a fan of that series as well, any similarities were unintentional. One fan wished that they could actually add it to their roster of Pokemon.

Pokemon Fusions Create Endless Possibilities

Pokemon fans have been designing fusions between existing Pokemon for almost as long as the series has existed. With over a thousand Pokemon now in the franchise, the possibilities for creative fusion creations is practically endless. However, this also works against the idea of myriads of Pokemon fusions becoming a reality in a game.

Pokemon fusions do exist in the games, but are quite limited and usually involve two or more Pokemon combining to create a new evolution. Pokemon like Kyurem are a bit more unique in this regard, but even then, it’s not the same thing as mashing up two dramatically different creatures into one combined form. Adding fusions like those created by fans into the games would either have to be extremely limited, with only a few Pokemon able to fuse with each other, or not happen at all. The sheer amount of time and effort it would take to create fusions for every Pokemon would be far too time-consuming and might not work from a player’s perspective, either. However, fans with a creative streak like Nainteins will always be able to provide a what-if look where the series fails to tread.
