Niantic is celebrating Pokemon GO’s 8th Anniversary by organizing a special event to give players a plethora of rewards and Pokemon. One of the Pokemon that fans are quite eager to catch is Party Hat Charmander.

Pokemon GO: How To Get Shiny Party Hat Charmander
Through Timed Research
Players can take part in the 8th Anniversary Party event-exclusive Timed Research to get a guaranteed encounter with Party Hat Charmander. Do note that this is the free Timed Research, and not the one that players need to buy a ticket for. However, unlike some of the other Pokemon, this is going to take a lot of time for players to complete, as it can only be obtained after players have caught 88 Pokemon. Additionally, since this is Timed Research, players should complete it only during the event, as it will not carry over. The good news is that catching any Pokemon will count towards this task. Even you run across something you don’t want to catch, you should still give it a shot, as this will not only help complete this task but also others along the way as well.
In 1-Star Raids
For a limited time during the event, Party Hat Charmander will be appearing in 1-star Raids. Since it is a Fire-type Pokemon, it is weak to Ground, Water, and Rock-type attacks. Some of the best counters for this Pokemon include Kyogre, Tyrantrum, Rhyperior, and Rampardos. However, players don’t really need to go all out on this. Pretty much any Ground, Water, or Rock-type Pokemon should work fine for this raid, considering it is merely a 1-star. Players should try as many raids as they can to maximize their chance of getting a shiny Party Hat Charmander.
In The Wild
Finally, players also have a chance to get Party Hat Charmander in the wild, although it is going to be tricky to find it. You can use items such as Incense and Lure Modules, which significantly boost the spawn rate of Pokemon. Considering that no special Lure Modules boost Fire-types, players will need to stick to regular Lure Modules instead. Using Incense is probably the better bet, considering that this event will require players to move around a lot.
