Pokemon GO Officially Confirms June 2024 Community Day Pokemon

The next Pokemon GO Community Day will star Goomy, Niantic has revealed. The upcoming Pokemon GO event is scheduled to take place in early June 2024.

Niantic’s hit mobile game has been holding Community Days on a monthly basis since January 2018. The developer has already hinted at Goomy starring in the June 2024 Pokemon GO Community Day as part of a recent social media teaser.

Pokemon GO Players Will Soon Get a Chance to Obtain Goodra With Thunder Punch

The Goomy-centric event was made official on May 29, with Niantic confirming that the next Community Day will take place on June 9, running from 2pm to 5pm local time. As per usual, this three-hour window will offer players a chance to catch plenty of Goomy specimens by dramatically increasing their spawn rate. The event itself will take place mere weeks after the three-year anniversary of Goomy’s Pokemon GO debut.

The Generation 6 mon is part of an evolutionary line that also includes Sliggoo and Goodra. Evolving a Sliggoo during the upcoming Community Day or up to five hours afterward will leave players with a Goodra that knows Thunder Punch, a charged attack that’s widely considered as one of the best Electric moves in the entire Pokemon franchise. The move is also fairly useful in Pokemon GO, as underlined by the fact that it’s often encountered in the arsenals of some Master League staples such as Electivire. Thunder Punch costs 55 power in trainer battles and 45 power in gyms and raids.

Evolving Sliggoo into Goodra in Pokemon GO is only possible during rainy weather, or while being in the immediate vicinity of an active Rainy Lure Module. One Timed Research awarding a Rainy Lure Module will be available from 2pm to 10pm local time on the day of the event. Niantic is also preparing another Special Research Story for the upcoming Community Day. Tickets for the quest will become available for purchase in early June, presumably a bit ahead of the event itself. Like most other Special Research Stories, this next one will be priced at $1, with players also being able to gift tickets to their in-game friends.

Catching pocket monsters will yield three times the Stardust and double Pokemon GO Candy rewards for the duration of the upcoming Community Day. The chances of earning Candy XL from catching mons will also be doubled for players on Trainer level 31 and up. Other traditional Community Day bonuses will also be in effect, including a 50% Stardust discount on trades, extended Lure Module duration, and an extra Special Trade slot.

• 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
• 3× Stardust for catching Pokémon.
• 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokémon.
• Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
• Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
• Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
• One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of three for the day (active from 2pm to 10pm local time).
• Trades will require 50% less Stardust (active from 2pm to 10pm local time).

• Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time
• After the three-hour Community Day event ends, Trainers will be able to take on special four-star Raid Battles. Claiming victory in one of these raids will cause more Goomy to appear around the Gym that hosted the raid for 30 minutes!
• Sliggoo will appear in four-star raids!
  • You can only join these raids using Raid Passes and Premium Battle Passes. Remote Raid Passes cannot be used to join these Raid Battles.
• Once you successfully complete a four-star Raid Battle against Sliggoo, additional Goomy will appear around the Gym that hosted the raid for 30 minutes.*

• Timed Research awarding one Rainy Lure will be available between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. local time.

• June Community Day–themed Field Research will be available! Catch Goomy to earn rewards such as Stardust, Great Balls, additional encounters with Goomy, and more!

• Be on the lookout for Showcases at different PokéStops during Goomy Community Day!

An Ultra Community Day Box featuring 10 Ultra Balls, one Elite Charged TM, and one Special Research story ticket will be available on the Pokémon GO Web Store during the event for US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). This web store deal will be available starting June 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. PDT, three days before the ticket is available in the in-game shop!

Now even more Trainers can enjoy the web store! Trainers with Pokémon Trainer Club (PTC) accounts will now be able to log in to the Pokémon GO Web Store with the same credentials used to log in to Pokémon GO. And don’t forget, Trainers can get a 15% discount on their first web store purchase of any item that costs US$9.99 or more!
