A recent Pokemon GO player found a funny surprise in the waypoint photo of a PokeStop. While these photos offer more information and give Pokemon GO players an idea of what they are looking for, the one that this player found had a Pokemon photo bombing it as well.
PokeStops play a vital role in Pokemon GO. Their primary function is to award players with resources such as potions and Pokeballs when their photo is spun in the game. Alongside this, PokeStops also award XP and can have lures attached to them to attract Pokemon to that location. PokeStops are always created after a place in the real world and often represent historical or important locations. They also must receive a relatively high amount of traffic to that location in order to become and stay a PokeStop.

When visiting a PokeStop recently, Reddit user ICEY171 came across a rather funny waypoint photo. The photo showed the Jacques Vieau plaque but also had a shiny Weedle in frame. The photo must have come from someone using the Augmented Reality function of Pokemon GO and provided plenty of entertainment for those commenting on the post. PokeStop Features an Augmented Reality Way Point Photo
The team behind Pokemon GO is often incredibly strict with their guidelines when it comes to what content appears in the game. While Pokemon GO players can nominate locations to become PokeStops once they reach a certain level within the game, there is a long list of criteria that the nomination must meet before it can officially become a PokeStop. With that said, many Reddit users commented under the original post that it is quite odd that an augmented reality photo like the one posted was able to meet the strict guidelines and become the waypoint photo for a PokeStop. Several Reddit users mentioned that even with meeting the criteria for a PokeStop nomination, they still were not able to get their PokeStops accepted.
Although this funny photo passing the strict PokeStop guidelines for Pokemon GO caused some confusion among some Reddit users, others thought it was fantastic. Several mentioned that it would be great to have augmented reality photos for all PokeStops. A couple of Reddit users went on to personify the Weedle, stating that he is the Jacques that the PokeStop is named after or that he is a regular and likes to hang out there. Regardless of how strict the Pokemon GO guidelines for PokeStops can be, this funny photo making it into the game made for quite a hilarious discovery for players.
