A Pokemon GO player who recently got back into the game after an absence of five years just discovered the value of a certain monster that’s been sitting unused in their phone — Armored Mewtwo. The player actually had three different armored Mewtwos caught in their Pokemon GO account, but two of their friends have already laid claim to the extras.

While Mewtwo has always maintained a strong presence throughout the history of Pokemon, being the biggest and baddest Legendary in the original group of 150 monsters, its armored version is a highly sought-after variant in the mobile augmented reality game. This particular version of Armored Mewtwo was created for the movie Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution, which hit theaters in Japan in the summer of 2019 and retold the story of 1998’s Pokemon: The First Movie in a CGI art style. While both of those movies and the first episode of the anime all depicted an armored variant of the genetically engineered creature, the modern variant had a few upgrades made to it.

Pokemon GO Can’t Afford to Beat Around the Bush with One Feature Much Longer

All eyes are on Pokemon GO, as the World Championships are underway, for the announcement of one important gimmick and everything with it.

For three weeks during July 2019, Armored Mewtwo five-star raids were added to Pokemon GO, giving players a chance to battle and capture their own version of the decked-out movie Pokemon, provided they had the skills and luck required to get one, with a second raid event being held the following year. Reddit user weedle321 was apparently able to get their hands on three of the monsters during the first limited-time raid event before temporarily retiring from the game. Having only recently come back to Pokemon GO, the player said they didn’t realize what valuable Pokemon they had been keeping on the proverbial shelf.

Pokemon Go Player Returns and Discovers Three Super-Valuable Pokemon

While the armor worn by Mewtwo in the movie is actually meant to suppress its phychic powers, it certainly doesn’t bring any detriment to the monster’s viability in the game. The one Armored Mewtwo the player showed off in the thread has a CP of 1,821 and a three-star Pokemon GO appraisal rating for its IVs. Fortunately, this is the version of the monster that the player decided to keep for themselves, as IVs are randomized after a trade.

As of now, it is not possible to get an Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon GO without some form of trading. Fortunately for those who can find a player willing to give up an Armored Mewtwo, the Pokemon does qualify for the game’s Special Trade feature, which could at least save them a lot of Stardust.
