Pokemon GO September 2024 Community Day to Feature Ponyta and its Galarian Variant

In the meantime, the developer has now already started teasing the star of the next such promo. Taking to Twitter on August 20, the studio shared a brief clip showing a few glimpses of Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta galloping down a meadow. And just so that there’s not any doubt about what that means, the video ends on a big CD banner, with Niantic also attaching the #PokemonGOCommunityDay hashtag to the tweet.

The studio recently confirmed that next month’s Pokemon GO Community Day will take place on September 14, which is a Saturday. Although Niantic did not elaborate on the matter any further, its track record indicates that the upcoming CD is likely to run between 2pm to 5pm local time. Since Ponyta has a regional variant, the event’s spawns ought to be a bit more varied than usual, as the Community Day will ostensibly up the encounter rates of both Galarian Ponyta and the Kanto one, both of which can also be shiny.

Evolving either Ponyta variant for the duration of the event will likely leave players with a Rapidash that knows a special CD move. But what exactly that attack will be remains to be seen. This bonus normally also applies to the evolutions performed up to five hours after the end of any given Community Day. The upcoming promotion is also expected to introduce some limited-time bonuses, like 3-hour Lure and Incense durations, as well as increased Candy and Candy XL rewards for catching mons. Players will also likely be able to perform a bonus Special Trade on September 14. CD trades have historically required just half of the usual Stardust costs.

The Ponyta Community Day will be the first CD in the next Pokemon GO season, which kicks off in early September. Niantic is planning two more Community Days during the forthcoming season, having already committed to holding them on October 5 and November 10. At the same time, the developer has also recently teased the arrival of Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing to Pokemon GO.
