  • Speculation suggests a potential November release for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, based on historical trends and observations.

With a franchise as big as Pokemon, there are numerous different avenues that regularly give fans content to enjoy. There are mobile games such as Pokemon Masters EX and Pokemon Cafe ReMix, the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and of course the mainline titles such as Pokemon Legends: Z-A that are regularly developed by Game Freak. The next game isn’t meant to come out until 2025, and thanks to the multiple kinds of content available for the world of pocket monsters, fans won’t be kept in a drought until Pokemon Legends: Z-A releases whatsoever.

It takes quite a lot of coordination between numerous different companies to keep each and every year stacked with Pokemon content, and it also means trusting The Pokemon Company’s partners with a lot of sensitive information. Out of the many corporations that TPCI works with, Creatures Inc is most certainly a trusted ally in its plans as Creatures Inc helps with all kinds of things from the games and even the TCG – which means the Trading Card Game is one of the first branches that’s made aware of the other branches’ plans. This is why the Trading Card Game, for many years, has been on top of seeing the transition from one generation – and even one game in particular – to the next. Through these trends and currently known Pokemon TCG plans, fans believe they may have narrowed down narrower release windows for Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

How the Pokemon TCG May Give Fans an Idea of When Pokemon Legends: Z-A May Come Out

The Pokemon Trading Card Game Has Plans Ahead Months in Advance

Due to how franchises such as Pokemon need to work around each other and promote various products, it isn’t abnormal for multiple pieces of media to focus on the same featured elements or ideas, with the routine of each Pokemon generation getting the spotlight almost exclusively until the next one comes along being a great example of this trend. Because of this, the Pokemon Trading Card Game has always taken a few weeks to only two months at maximum to start releasing a new generation’s trading card sets after release, even making room for other games during that gen’s life cycle such as Legends: Arceus.

The English sets typically stay mindful of the generation that’s currently the main focus, making things like Legends: Arceus cards or Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire cards fall under the titles of Gen 8 and Gen 6 respectively, ending up part of Sword and Shield and XY sets. However, the Japanese booster packs are a bit more obvious as to what they’re promoting, with Sword and Shield: Astral Radiance being known as two different Dialga and Palkia sets, Time Gazer and Space Juggler, in Japan as a prime example.

Pokemon TCG fansite PokeBeach has used this more outright method of naming packs as a way to narrow down when Pokemon Legends: Z-A might release next year, as Japan already has a schedule in place for the beginning of 2025. According to the site’s findings, there are no packs that seem to imply anything related to Legends: Z-A such as Kalos characters, Pokemon, or mechanics such as Mega Evolution in these sets, and PokeBeach seems to believe the potential return of the Owner’s Pokemon cards might keep these important Legends: Z-A card mechanics away from the game for as late as Fall 2025.

These observations seem to imply that this highly anticipated game is likely to come out around Pokemon‘s usual release window of November, if not any time sooner than that. While this is rather speculative, and plans still have room to be switched around and changed as The Pokemon Company sees fit, these trends have years behind them that seem like a good indicator that fans should remain patient for just a little while longer as Pokemon Legends: Z-A takes more time to really impress those yearning to go back to Kalos.
