The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet update 3.0.0 is now available for download. The arrival of the new patch coincides with the release of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC, complementing the expansion with a variety of bug fixes and other changes.
Game Freak has been averaging one update per six weeks ever since its latest mainline Pokemon RPGs hit the market in late 2022. The first major patch for the games rolled out back in September in the form of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet update 2.0.1. Much like that release brought The Teal Mask, the first part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, so too does the 3.0.0 patch tie into the second half of the expansion, which is The Indigo Disk.
One Odd Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Feature Makes Tera Raids Unpredictable
Tera Raids are an exciting activity for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players, but one part of their design hurts the accessibility of a certain feature.
Once the new update is installed, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can start The Indigo Disk DLC by completing all three main questlines in the games: Path of Legends, Starfall Street, and Victory Road. From there, they’ll also need to beat The Way Home quest and the first part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion. Fans who don’t own the DLC may encounter new Pokemon in local and online multiplayer modes in the 3.0.0 version of the games, their latest patch notes reveal.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Update 3.0.0 Fixes Several Bugged Abilities
Likewise, buying the expansion is not necessary to benefit from the update’s bug fixes, of which there are several. For one, Game Freak took another look at the Hospitality Ability, which should no longer behave in unexpected ways following the new update. The patch also revises the behavior of the Quark Drive and Protosynthesis Abilities, preventing them from triggering while the Neutralizing Gas Ability is in effect. The official changelog accompanying the update reveals that a number of other Pokemon Scarlet and Violet bug fixes are also part of the package, although it doesn’t go into any more details on the matter.
One final change included in the patch concerns Ogre Oustin’, a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet minigame that debuted as part of The Teal Mask; following some vocal player complaints about its difficulty, Game Freak has apparently lowered its overall level of challenge, making popping Ogre Balloons a bit easier. It is currently unclear whether the adjustment affects all three of the minigame’s difficulty levels, or just its punishing Hard mode.
The 3.0.0 update for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is the games’ ninth patch to date. Between the fact that The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC is now fully out and Game Freak’s track record, it’s unlikely that the latest mainline Pokemon games will continue receiving patches for much longer.
