Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is here! After months of waiting, the latest two games to be added to the best-selling franchise are finally available to play. With new games come new Pokemon with adorable and interesting designs. Generation nine also marks the series’ one-thousandth Pokedex entry, belonging to ‘coin entity’ Gholdengo.
Fans were charmed by the adorable Fidough, which was teased prior to the games release, but Paldea is home to a few more original fairy friends. While they’re few and far between, these fairy types are already beloved. From baked goods to eerily familiar faces, here are the best fairy Pokemon unique to Generation nine. This list takes into account base stats and general versatility.
Updated February 3, 2024, by Blaise Santi: Now that Pokemon Scarlet & Violet have received two DLC expansions with the release of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, fans of the Fairy-type may be excited to meet all-new Pokemon. Sadly, only one brand-new Pokemon across both expansions is Fairy-typed, but there are still plenty of Fairy-types from previous generations available to catch in the Gen 9 games for the first time, from Clefable to Alcremie. Scroll to learn a little more about the brand-new Fairy-types from Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: How To Get Piplup, Prinplup, Empoleon (Indigo Disk)
The Sinnoh starter Piplup is back in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and fans are quite curious to learn how they can catch and evolve it.
9 Tinkatink
A Different Kind Of Baby Pokemon

|
Catch Locations |
|
Fun Fact |
Its spawn rate is 100% female. |
Tinkatink is the first in a new three-stage evolutionary line of fairy-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet that are quickly becoming fan favorites. While it may not look like much in this form, this Pokemon is collecting iron scraps to use to forge the perfect hammer. The entire evolutionary line is also 100% female, which is pretty rare when it comes to Pokemon.
Its Scarlet Pokedex states that this carefully crafted hammer is often stolen by Pokemon that eat metal. Given that Tinkatink spends so much time making that hammer, it’s heart-breaking to see it getting pushed around.
8 Fidough
A Doughy Scent Wafts In Its Path
Type |
Fairy |
---|---|
Fairy-type Moves |
|
Highest & Lowest Base Stats |
|
Catch Locations |
|
Fun Fact |
When angered, Fidough will increase in size to intimidate opponents. |
Similar to Alcremie, Fidough is an adorable Pokemon based on a sweet baked good. Its English name comes from the popular dog name ‘Fido’ and ‘dough,’ a simple yet charming pun.
As one of the Pokemon teased ahead of the game, Fidough had plenty of time to become a fan favorite. In terms of stats, Fidough isn’t much to look at. While its defense isn’t bad, it’s just not competitively viable when combined with its other stats.
7 Tinkatuff
Once Tinkatink Picks Up The Pace…
Type |
Fairy/Steel |
---|---|
Fairy-type Moves |
|
Highest & Lowest Base Stats |
|
Catch Locations |
|
Fun Fact |
This Pokemon obtains its metal from defeating groups of Pawniard and Bisharp. |
As the second in the Tinkaton evolutionary line, Tinkatuff is more recognizably bipedal and seems to have more confidence in its metal hammer. In fact, Tinkatuff has distinctly gone from hunted to hunter, attacking Steel-type Pokemon like Pawniard and Bisharp.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Best New Items
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet introduces some exciting new items that players should check out.
With mid-tier base stats, it can be pretty useful for taking on wild Pokemon and random Pokemon trainer encounters. For competitive purposes, however, it’s worth evolving it all the way.
6 Fezandipiti
A Loyal Third Shares A Dark Secret
Type |
Poison/Fairy |
---|---|
Fairy-type Moves |
|
Highest & Lowest Base Stats |
|
Catch Locations |
Oni Mountain |
Fun Fact |
It shares its ability Toxic Chain with Okidogi and Munkidori. |
Fezandipiti is a member of the Loyal Three, a trio of Legendary Pokemon (along with Munkidori and Okidogi) worshipped by the people of Kitakami. As the story goes, the trio drove off the evil Ogerpon from the village. However, during The Teal Mask DLC campaign, players discover that Ogerpon wasn’t as fearsome as it was made out to be, flipping the script on the Loyal Three.
Fezandipiti, like the other two members of its legendary group, is part-Poison-type, which pairs well with a secondary Fairy-type as it loses its weakness to Poison. With the Ability Toxic Chain, any Pokemon who comes in contact with Fezandipiti may be poisoned, though this will not have any effect on Poison and Steel-type Pokemon.
5 Dachsbun
A Fairy-Type With One Less Weakness
Type |
Fairy |
---|---|
Fairy-type Moves |
|
Highest & Lowest Base Stats |
|
Catch Locations |
East Province (Area Three), South Province (Area Six), West Province (Area Three) |
Fun Fact |
Its Hidden Ability, Aroma Veil, protects it from attacks that limit move choices |
The evolution of Fidough is the toasted dog Dachsbun. Like its pre-evolution Fidough, Dachsbun is well-utilized in the community.
Dachsbun’s ability, ‘Well-Baked Body,’ means it takes no damage from Fire-type moves. Instead, its defense stat is sharply boosted by them. This makes it a decent option for taking on the Fire Crew base and their leader Mela.
4 Tinkaton
Corviknights Beware!
Type |
Fairy/Steel |
---|---|
Fairy-type Moves |
|
Highest & Lowest Base Stats |
|

Evolve Tinkatuff |
Fun Fact |
It learns the unique Steel-type move Gigaton Hammer. |
It’s safe to say that this little fairy Pokemon has completed its transformation from bullied to bully. Its Scarlet Pokedex describes its disposition as “daring,” and mentions that it targets Corviknight. This isn’t the first time a Pokedex entry has singled out another Pokemon, but it might be the meanest.
In terms of base stats, Tinkaton is, unsurprisingly, the best of its evolutionary line. With the correct nature, 252 EVs and 31 IVs, Tinkaton’s max stats are seriously impressive.
3 Flutter Mane
It’s Not Quite Misdreavus
Type |
Ghost/Fairy |
---|---|
Fairy-type Moves It Can Learn |
|
Base Stats |
|
Catch Locations |
Area Zero |
Fun Fact |
It is exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet. |
Closely resembling Misdreavous, Flutter Mane is an ancient relative of the Pokemon and can only be caught in The Great Crater of Paldea. As one of a number of Paradox Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it can only be caught in the late game after all three story paths are complete. It’s the last place players will go before the credits roll.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The 12 Strongest Pokemon in the Paldea Pokedex (& Where to Find Them)
As one might expect, the strongest Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet are mostly Dragon-types, but there are one or two surprises thrown in there as well.
Flutter Mane is so powerful that it’s already been banned competitively. It has the highest Special Defense stat of all the Paradox Pokemon, with an equally high Special Attack stat.
2 Scream Tail
Jigglypuff Has Gotten A Lot Louder
Type |
Fairy/Psychic |
---|---|
Fairy-type Moves |
|
Base Stats |
|
Catch Locations |
Area Zero |
Fun Fact |
It existed 400 million years before the first multicellular life on Earth. |
Scream Tail resembles an extremely aggressive Jigglypuff. As a possible ancient relative of the adorable pink Pokemon, Scream Tail is reported to attack anyone that comes near it, making it quite different from its contemporary form.
Scream Tail’s base stats are very versatile. While it doesn’t hit the top in any of them, it has consistently high stats that make it a great all-rounder.
1 Iron Valiant
Gardevoir and Gallade Combined
Type |
Fairy/Fighting |
---|---|
Fairy-type Moves It Can Learn |
|
Base Stats |
|
Catch Locations |
Area Zero |
Fun Fact |
It is the first Pokemon with dual Fairy/Fighting-typing. |
Another Paradox Pokemon and a Violet exclusive, Iron Valiant is a fairy/fighting Pokemon that closely resembles Gardevoir and Gallade. As a Violet exclusive, Iron Valiant is the only Fairy-type ‘future Pokemon,’ which can only be found at The Great Crater of Paldea. Its Scarlet Pokedex entry mentions that it bears some similarities to an invention by a mad scientist.
Iron Valiant is also the only Fairy/Fighting-type in the series. No other Pokémon has the same type combination as Iron Valiant.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
