Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: How to Make 4 Star Sandwiches

Blueberry Quests (BBQs) are a gameplay feature exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet‘s Indigo Disk DLC. You’ll only receive them when you’re in Terarium/Blueberry Academy. If you’re playing solo, the BBQs you receive will all be Solo BBQs. If you’re playing in a Union Circle, you have a chance of receiving a Group BBQ, which are more challenging BBQs that can only be done in, as you’d expect, groups.

One Group BBQ is “make a four-star sandwich.” There are multiple recipes that you can use to make four-star sandwiches in groups of as little as 2 players. After you’ve completed the Group BBQ, you can speak to Snacksworth to get a Legendary Pokemon Treat once you complete the Indigo Disk storyline.

How to Make Sandwiches in Union Circle

Everyone Needs to Join In

To make a four-star sandwich, you’ll need to be in the Union Circle. You can connect to the internet by tapping the L-button in the pause menu (X-button). Select Poke Portal, then Union Circle. Once you have 2 people (or more), you can set out together.

1. One player will need to set up a picnic. When you see the table spawn on the overworld, approach it to “join in.”
2. The picnic host will need to approach the table and “Make a Sandwich”.
3. Before proceeding, everyone else in the group will need to “join in” by pressing A-button near the table.
4. You’ll see a textbox indicating “[no.]/[no.] members of group have joined in!”, so once this happens, the host should choose “Let’s get cooking!”

Understanding Toppings for Four-Star Sandwiches

Herba Mystica Recipe

Your ingredients and toppings serve a vital role in making sandwiches. For four-star sandwiches, you’ll need 100 points for each of the five flavors. If you hover over an ingredient, you’ll notice the description indicating what type of flavors it has. Some ingredients are “very tart” while others are “very sweet” or “slightly bitter.” Unfortunately, Scarlet/Violet‘s ingredient “flavor points” aren’t visible, so you’ll be going through a lot of trial and error if you don’t know what to add.

Keep in mind that each player can only add 6 ingredients and 4 toppings.

The easiest, but most expensive recipe uses one of each Herba Mystica. These can only be obtained through 5/6-star Raids. However, you can get two of each Herba Mystica by speaking to a man at Kitakami Hall, so long as you have every Picnic Cloth there is to get.

Here’s what you’ll need to make a four star sandwich with Herba Mystica:

You can mix-and-match the Herba Mystica that each one of you are contributing. In other words, player 1 doesn’t have to use all four of their Herba Mystica while player 2 only contributes one. As long as you have all five Herba Mystica on the sandwich, that’s all that matters.

* If you have more than two players, then you can divide the Herba Mysticas among your group. Each of you can contribute one Herba Mystica, while another person contributes two.

Four-Star Sandwich Recipes without Herba Mystica

2-players (Union Circle)

Since Herba Mystica are incredibly rare and best used for Shiny Hunting, you’re better off using recipes for four-star sandwiches that don’t use Herba Mystica. These can be more difficult to achieve as you need to pay attention to what ingredients/condiments you’re using.

Again: You need 100 points for each of the five flavors.

Ingredients that tend to be more useful are ones that have multiple flavors, such as a Hamburger. For condiments, Curry Powder is usually an excellent choice because it contains each of the five flavors.

Here are some recipes that you can use for making four-star Sandwiches (2-players):

The sandwich doesn’t need to look appetizing and remember: you don’t need to add the top bun. Toss it aside if the sandwich is stacked too high to avoid losing your ingredients. You’ll also want to be careful to not add too much of one ingredient (ex: 6 bananas, 4 whipped cream), as this usually results in 1-star sandwiches.
