PUBG Mobile has launched a crossover with Tekken 8, allowing players to pick up three of the fighting game’s popular combatants and a collection of items themed around Tekken characters. The update for PUBG Mobile is now available.

The mobile version of battle royal game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG for short, was launched in 2018, just three months after the original version for PC, which has since extended its reach to PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The mobile game contains very similar gameplay elements to its PC counterpart, which still holds one of the highest concurrent player peak records on Steam.

New PUBG Attachment is Overpowered

PUBG’s latest update introduces a new attachment that many players feel is overly powerful and disrupts the challenging nature of the game.

A new trailer for the themed Prize Path Event announces the collaboration, which comes with several Tekken 8-themed collaboration sets and items that first became available on October 12. The recently announced collaboration allows PUBG Mobile players to get their hands on playable versions of Tekken 8 characters Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, and Nina Williams. Unlocking the 20-level Prize Pack with UC will immediately net players the Jin Kazama – PP-19 Bizon rifle. While three characters are present in the Prize Pack, players will only be able to choose between two of them, at levels 10 and 20, to obtain their collaboration emote and outfit. Players are able to pick up the third and final character, however, by spending Prize Path Points or UC in on Tekken 8 Collaboration Crate, and 150 pulls from the crate will guarantee that players receive the desired character.

Crossovers with the Tekken series aren’t unheard of, especially after Tekken 7. While the long-running series seemed to have an aversion to guest fighters for much of its run, characters like the Street Fighter series’ Akuma and The Walking Dead‘s Negan in Tekken 7 have bucked that trend. Many fans of the series have also called for a crossover with fellow fighting game franchise Dead or Alive in Tekken 8, though director Katsuhiro Harada has said such a collaboration would be highly unlikely due to the lack of a new mainline DOA game since 2019.

Still, not everyone seems thrilled with the release of the recent collaboration with PUBG Mobile. Many online multiplayer shooters rely on the frequent addition of crossover content to keep fan bases engaged, much to the dismay of players looking for authentic military action. There have already been a number of PUBG Mobile crossover events in the past, from game series like Resident Evil and anime like Dragon Ball to children’s song Baby Shark.
