Where To Find Armadillos In Red Dead Redemption

Despite the common assumption that armadillos would be plentiful in the town of Armadillo, you’d be surprised to discover there aren’t any to hunt nearby. Not knowing this can lead you to spend hours looking for these tiny creatures in the wrong places. As mentioned earlier, armadillos are typically found in wild and rocky terrain, and here are some of the best spots to find them:

  • Hanging Rock: You can reach the Hanging Rock by riding a short distance north of Armadillo town.
  • Pleasance House: The Pleasance House is located to the west of Armadillo town. You can find plenty of armadillos scuttering about during the evening hours.
  • Gaptooth Ridge: You can also hunt armadillos in the rugged and arid region of Gaptooth Ridge, located all the way west of Armadillo town.
  • Alta Matadero: After reaching Mexico, you can ride a short distance south of Diez Coronas to find the small town of Alta Matadero, which has a decent population of armadillos.

Armadillo Hunting Tips In Red Dead Redemption

Like most wild animals in Red Dead Redemption, armadillos also spawn at varying times across different regions. For instance, if you plan on hunting these creatures near Pleasance House, you’ll need to scout this area during the sunset. On the other hand, armadillos in and around Hanging Rock can be hunted throughout the day.

When it comes to hunting armadillos, you’ll need to choose your weapons carefully. Powerful firearms like Shotguns, Elephant Rifle, and Springfield Rifle can damage the animal beyond harvesting. In fact, the carcass immediately disappears when the armadillo is shot with any of these weapons. Light weapons like pistols and standard repeaters are all great for hunting these creatures.

Additionally, if you’re pursuing the

, you’ll also need to hunt and skin five boars alongside three armadillos. You can find a decent boar population northeast of MacFarlane’s Ranch. Just make sure that you’re hunting them during the daytime — and use bait to make the hunt easier.
