When there’s a huge open world waiting to be explored, players are definitely going to want options to make their journeys a little easier and quicker. In Rise of the Ronin, there is always the choice of hopping onto your mount for a swift ride to your destination, but when it comes to covering large swathes of terrain with speed and visibility, nothing beats the Glider.
For those hoping to find the Glider and explore its possibilities in Rise of the Ronin, this guide will show you the way.
Like a Dragon: Ishin and Rise of the Ronin are Two Sides of the Same Coin
Rise of the Ronin and Like a Dragon: Ishin follow a common trend within the gaming industry, but take very different approaches with their execution.
How to Get the Glider in Rise of the Ronin
As such an important part of the adventure in Rise of the Ronin, players will get their hands on the Glider quite early on in the game. As part of The Bridge to Yokohama story quest, players will meet up with the eccentric ronin, Royama Sakamoto. Eventually, they will team up to take down Gonzo and obtain the permits that will allow passage into the city.
After defeating the boss, head to the hoard just down the road, where Sakamoto will share his plans and hopes to meet up with the player later. It is here that the Glider will be given as a reward to players, together with a platform that will enable you to take flight for the first time.
The Glider
can be used as long as there is enough elevation
, and is not required to be equipped in the inventory. Simply
jump into the air using the X button and hit it again to deploy the Glider
. Do note that the use of the Glider requires Ki, so if you run out, the tool will close, and your character may fall to death. When flying into
combat
, be sure to have enough Ki to defend and fight as well.
How to Improve the Glider in Rise of the Ronin
While the current Glider is already a very useful tool, there are a couple more ways in which players can increase its utility and effectiveness. This can all be done via Technology Development, which is made possible by exchanging Foreign Books and improving the relationship with Igashichi Iizuka at the Photographic Studio located in Yokohama or Edo.
Players can then use the money to unlock new possibilities, such as assassinations from the Glider, faster flying, and even throwing bombs while in the air. In co-op, it can be very spectacular to see multiple Gliders soaring through the air and taking down groups of enemies at once. Be sure to grab as many Foreign Books as possible and get these upgrades when possible, which will only improve your experience in the wild.
