RoboCop: Rogue City – Every Character From The Movies

RoboCop: Rogue City rises far and above most other licensed games. It is clearly crafted with love and respect for the property. The gameplay is also unique and takes inspiration from the film’s brutal violence. Though RoboCop is centered around one character, some players might forget just how much of the supporting cast from the movies is in Rogue City.

Fans of the movie will be delighted to see these characters in Rogue City, which takes place between the second and third films. Even those less familiar with the franchise will still appreciate the gameplay and will hopefully be inspired to watch the films and see where these characters originated from.

The game’s credits do not always show what character the actor portrayed. If the entry does not show who played the character in the game, this is why.

6 Alex Murphy/RoboCop

Played By Peter Weller In Both The Movie And The Game

It cannot be overstated how difficult it is to play the role of RoboCop. Putting on the suit alone required hours of preparation each day and then the ability to walk around in it as if one were a machine was a whole different challenge.

Peter Weller pulled it off flawlessly and perfectly captures the character’s internal struggle for his humanity. He is probably relieved that returning to the character for this game meant he only had to do the voice and was not required to put on the suit again. He also voiced the character when he was a guest combatant for Mortal Kombat 11.

Peter Weller played the character in the first two movies but did not return for the third installment or any of the adaptations afterward.

5 The Old Man

Dan O’Herily In The Films, Mark Holden In Rogue City

The head of Omnicorp is a mysterious figure known as The Old Man. It is unknown why he has this name exactly. Though he is not a thug in a suit, Omcicorp (or OCP) is the overarching villain of the series.

Ut say they want to clean up the streets but it is all about making money. Dan O’Herily appeared in the first two films but did not return for the third film, which almost everyone considers a failure. Rogue City finally explained what happened to the head of Omnicorp along with tying up a lot of loose ends the third film ignored.

4 Anne Lewis

Nancy Allen In The Films, Kosha Engler In The Games

Anne Lewis is RoboCop’s partner and seemingly the only true friend he has throughout the films and this game. She constantly reasserts that Murphy’s soul is still within RoboCop’s hard, metal exterior. It is still refreshing to see a friendship between a woman and a man in an action movie that does not involve romantic implications.

Nancy Allen last played Lewis in a small part of RoboCop 3 where her character passes away in the introduction. She did not return for Rogue City so Kosha Engler took on the role. Much of Lewis’ part in the game involves her in the hospital after a serious injury. Considering the game takes place between the second and third films, most fans knew she would make it through Rogue City in one piece.

3 Sgt. Reed

Robert DoQui In The Films

Rogue City takes place in several small hubs, including the police station. After every mission players return there for a status update and to find out where to head next. Players are always directed to the briefing room where Sgt. Reed talks about the next task at hand.

The actor who plays him in Rogue City does a great job of capturing the character’s no-nonsense mood and struggle to keep the underpaid police force together. Robert DoQui passed away in 2008, so it is unknown whether the actor would have taken the opportunity to jump back into the character for this game.

2 Mayor Kuzak

Willard E. Pugh In The Films

Being a mayor of any city is hard, but it must be doubly frustrating when that city is Detroit in the RoboCop series. Mayor Kuzak does what he can to prevent OCP from controlling all of the city in the name of the dollar, but he really cannot do a lot in his position.

A major theme of the movie and Cyberpunk fiction in general is the corporate takeover of government. In Rogue City Kuzak tries to win over RoboCop’s favor in the election by promising to fight OCP with every ounce of strength he has. It is up to the player to side with either Kuzak or his opponent John Mills.

1 RoboCop 2

The Villain Of The Sequel

One of the few movies to be named after its villain and where the sequel’s name is the name of one of the characters. This one does need some explaining, though. In the film RoboCop 2, the mechanical monstrosity is inhabited by an abhorrent criminal Cain.

In RoboCop: Rogue City the beast becomes the final boss as The deceased Old Man is uploaded into it. A lot of this plot line goes toward explaining why OCP had to sell itself to the Japanese company from RoboCop 3. Even though that film is largely frowned upon, the game is commendable for bridging the gap between it and RoboCop 2.
